Bujinryu Osoroshi (bujins need a searcher)

I wanted to make a searcher for Bujins. I also wanted a way to stop people from pulling off OTK's while I'm still trying to pull out a "Bujin" Xyz. and I also wanted another reason to play Instant Fusion. 
 
The "Bujinryu" part of the name is a play on the fact that Wyrms are called Genryus in Japanese, and "Osoroshi" means ferocious in Japanese (according to Google Translate). CnC on any and all parts of the card are appreciated, but please remember your netiquette.




1 Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" Monster + 1 non-Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" Monster
If this card is Summoned: Add 1 "Bujin" card from your Deck to your hand.
If your LP would become 0 (either by battle or by card effect) and this card is in your Graveyard or on the field in face-up Attack Position while you control no other monsters: Negate the attack or activation, and if you do, return that card to the hand, then Special Summon this card (if it is not already on the field) and immediately Xyz Summon 1 Rank 4 "Bujin" Xyz Monster from your Extra Deck by using this card as the Xyz Material (this is a Quick Effect). You can only activate this effect of "Bujinryu" once per Duel

Screw this I'm editing my own ignorance since I forgot Instant Fusion.

Instant Fusion literally searches any Bujin card you need, free of any actual cost. This is the biggest issue with the card. Thanks to fellow YCMers for helping me notice the blatant stupidity in my post.

Also, it revives itself….and bounces whatever the hell was attacking back to the hand, free of charge. Then, allowing you to OTK next turn. Not good, not good at all. 

 

 

Also, it just doesn't make sense. Use a level 5 to illegally make a Rank 4 Xyz? Unless I missed something the materials still have to be correct.

While you are awfully losing? IN BUJINS?

This is another great searcher, try to cope.

Have you honestly played the deck? It's a lot faster with Hirume now, and isn't just some stall deck. At least, I think you were implying it was...

Actually, Instant Fusion is the very card that makes this card, uh, ill-designed. The card is awful design-wise because it's intended to turn Instant Fusion into a search for any Bujin card ever, which can mean Yamato, Hirume, Crane, or Bujincarnation (this one being a big no-no). In fact, it is completely terrible if you do not use Instant Fusion to Summon it, because you're losing one of your Beast Warriors to Fusion Summon this card in a Deck that doesn't even Fusion Summon, and you're going to want to actually put that Beast Warrior on the field instead. Speaking of Bujins not being a Fusion-based Deck, this being a Fusion is pretty bad flavor-wise, but don't worry TOO much that it isn't flavorful right now.

 

And then there's the second effect. If you were going to win, then ok you won't be using it. However, it's pretty much a Negate Attack from the Graveyard that's tacked on in a way that requires no effort at all. I say it's like that because you're likely going to Summon Amaterasu with it, and then you can immediately use her effect to fetch one of your banished Bujins (you often have a Crane banished for Hirume, so your opponent will need at least two monsters with over 2600 ATK to get around it in one turn).

 

My advice to you is to try never to make a card that will be abuseable by cards like Instant Fusion, because Instant Fusion is awful in design. It's a Spell that gives you a monster for a rather negligible cost, and it not being able to attack doesn't matter because you can (and will 99% of the time) use it as a Material for an Extra Deck monster. Recent Fusions like Noden only make it worse. This card's existence means you can, for 1000 Life Points, search any Bujin card out there, and then get an Amaterasu to save your Life Points, and also get a banished card back. For one card (Instant Fusion), this is just way too much.

How do Bujins need another searcher? Akane/TGM already pointed it out: Yamato is their main searcher, who can be searched by Tenki; also Bujins already have searchers: Peacock, and of course the Xyz Susanowo; and Mikazuchi takes care of searching the Bujin Spell/Traps. So really, if you are having trouble with getting Yamato in your first turn, then either you are doing something wrong, or worst case scenario the deck needs more Peacock.

 

That aside, the card doesn't look fine and the effects aren't fair. First, it conflicts with flavor: The Bujin archetype has Beast-Warriors, Beasts and Winged-Beast types, and yet this card is a Wyrm, who is unrelated to beasts. Yes I read the flavor behing the card's name and type, but still, leaving it as Beast or perhaps Beast-Warrior would fit better. Then, as Akane/TGM mentioned, it was designed to make Rank4s with its effect but for some reason it is Level 5; Instant Fusion can Summon Level 4s, you know?

Now, on the effects:

A searching effect that triggers on any kind of summon is unfair and just asking to be abused. You will get search for a Bujin card when you Summon this through Instant Fusion, Soul Charge, Call of the Haunted, etc. Sure, Konami uses these effects as they did with Batteryman 9V, Seraph Scepter and Stratos (now forbidden in TCG), but Konami doing doesn't make it any more fair.

Finally, effects with "once per duel" restriction are usually bad for the game: It's like acknowledging the effect is so powerful that it needs such heavy restriction. And sure enough, this effect is busted: it saves you from losing once, bounces the card (essentially removing it if it was an Extra Deck monster) and lets you drop a Bujin Rank4 from the Extra Deck for free, which can potentially turn the tides of the duel. How about no? I would rather have a balanced effect than a broken effect that can only be used once.

Actually, please don't do this. In addition to what it already does with Instant Fusion, it also becomes moar Hirume if it is Level 4. We have cards like Xyz Reborn that can Summon a Xyz Monster and attach itself to the monster. We have #101, which can attach any monster of any Level or rank to it if it meets #101's requirements. So, you don't need this to be Level 4 for that kind of effect.

My point was that the card being Level 5 was out of place when it makes Rank4s with its effect, but I agree: Making it Level 4 would make it even more busted because it becomes Rank 4 Material AND its searching effect will trigger when summoned by Bujincarnation.
