Trebuchet MS
So the Summer Open ends, with me claiming 3rd after having 2 matches won by default. I feel like I haven't won this fairly. Nevertheless, here's the submission that didn't see the light of day due to the opponent's inactivity.
You can Ritual Summon this card with "Firn Conversion". When this card is Ritual Summoned: Change all face-up monsters your opponent controls to Defense Position. Monsters your opponent controls cannot change their battle positions. When this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. Negate the effects of monsters destroyed by battle with this card.
I'm not quite sure why I've been creating monsters that restrict a particular action. Maybe it's because I've been trying too hard to avoid accidentally creating a catalyst for a wumbo combo. Maybe I've been rather averse to seeing said wumbo combos. When it came to creating a monster based on a glacier, I imagined something that freezes over the opponent's monsters while leisurely trampling over everything and their defenses, smothering everything that it ran over. Hence, on Summon, it forces monsters to cower, hopefully into their more vulnerable DEF, rolls all over them as it attacks with piercing damage, and crippling any Flip Effects or on-destruction effects that it might have accidentally set off. Hands and Dolls have next to nothing on this. WATER Rock, because WATER Aqua or EARTH Rocks are a little too mainstream.
This card is used to Ritual Summon "Aletsch, Glacier Spirit". You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose Levels equal 7 or more. During your Main Phase 1, if you control a Rock-Type monster: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; your opponent cannot activate Spell/Trap Cards during this turn's Battle Phase.
Usually, the Ritual Spells accompanying modern Rituals either have a wide Summon scope, or have an alt-effect that complements the Ritual it summons. This one lets you proceed with your attacks nearly completely unhindered for the duration of a single Battle Phase. Such an effect I find to be rather potent, so I placed a Rock-Type restriction to prevent it from being randomly splashed as Battle Phase security. Comments will be appreciated.
