Darj
Fusion of the Star Knights Trap Card Type: Continuous Effect: When this card is activated: You can target 1 "Constellar" monster and 1 "tellarknight" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 "tellar" Xyz Monster from your Extra Deck, and if you do, attach those monsters to it as Xyz Material. Any card or effect that requires, targets or applies on "Constellar" or tellarknight" cards will require, target or apply on "tellar" cards instead.
The last effect basically replaces "Constellar" or "tellarknight" with "tellar" in card texts. Examples of this effect's applications: - "Satellarknight Deneb" will be able to search "Constellar" monsters. - "Satellarknight Betelgeuse" will be able to recycle "Constellar" cards, including Spell/Traps such as "Constellar Star Cradle". - You will be able to banish a "tellarknight" monster to activate the effect of "Constellar Sombre", as well as add to the hand or Normal Summon a "tellarknight" monster with Sombre's effect. - You will be able to send a "Constellar" monster you control to the grave to activate "Stellarnova Alpha".
We were asked to make a card using that name and was related to the DT Storyline, and this is what I made, which I think turned out quite well. The first effect is powerful as a 1-card Xyz (and is a reference to a fusion between Sacreds and tellas implied in the card name), but it is more of a reward for running a deck with 2 archetypes that usually wouldn't mix together if it was not for this card's second effect; also the first effect is optional and thus the card will be alive even if you don't have the proper targets in the grave. Then, it is unsearchable so until you draw it you better pray to not get awful hands with tellarknights and Constellars who cannot support each other. On the other hand, once you set everything up, things may get quite crazy: Sombre becomes a second Altair, drop Kausts for Rank 5s, Pollux/Algiedi + Deneb becomes a powerful play (not too different to Deneb + Vega, though), etc. In short, I would say it is more of a "for fun" card that compensates you for running an inherently inconsistent deck. And I suspect that pure "tellarknights" would still be better. A couple of things I'm considering: - Replacing the first effect with something else that adds consistency to the hypothetical Constellarknight deck as an attempt of patching things up. Perhaps a monster search, although telllarknights don't deserve it; or a simple "reveal a tellar monster in your hand; draw 1 card", I don't know. - Changing the card's name to include "tellarknight", so at least it will be recyclable by Betelgeuse (but still unsearchable).
