The Val'kyr - Angel of the Dead

Inspired by the Val'kyr of the game World of Warcraft, I made a badass card that would seem worthy to represent such terrifying creatures.

 

 

 

Jessina, Angel of the Dead

Level 11, DARK, Fairy/Effect, ATK/ 3400, DEF/750

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Banishing 4 DARK Fairy-Type monsters from your Graveyard. When this card is Special Summoned, select a number of DARK Fairy-Type monsters in your Graveyard: Banish them and inflict 200 damage to all players for each card Banished. If a player has less than 3500 life points when this effect activates, that player takes double the damage instead. At the End of the turn this card is summoned, place this card on the bottom of your deck.

While a badass artwork indeed, I don't think it works as well of a card. Usually when you got a huge monster like this, you want a good buildup and you want it to be realistic. This succeeds in neither of that, unfortunately.

For starters, there are not that many playable DARK Fairy Type monsters. In fact, the only ones are the Darklords, but they aren't the cards you stack and banish. They are the ones you OTK with. A refresher of this:
Summon Dark Creator
Use effect to bring Darklord Superbia
Superbia's effect summons Darklord Zerato
(If you had Dark Armed you could also drop him here)
Zerato blows up the field with his effect
Exactly 8000 damage
It was as simple as that back in the day when Artifacts and all these floater decks weren't live.

Back to this card, banishing Darklords is never a good idea unless you get a high reward for it, and a 3400 beatstick that only lasts for one turn ain't gonna do it. As you could expect, this makes the second effect EVEN MORE useless, and the fact that you only deal burn damage as a reward, which usually would be very low due to its already insane cost, is just depressing.

As much as I am an optimist and as much as I love seeing support for DARK Decks, this one let me down. Maybe try and look towards the Darklords and see if you can get something from there.
