Unicorn Archetype

Hello Everyone!

I've decided to make a new support for often overlooked Beast-Type Monsters. In the end, I made the Unicorn archetype. Unicorns are an archetype that primarily relies on DEF and lets you use their attack points for different services, such as regaining Life Points, or having your Unicorns getting even more power.

EFFECT MONSTERS

This card gains 100 DEF for each "Unicorn" Monster (except "Thunder Unicorn". This card cannot be destroyed by battle, also you take no battle damage from battles involving this card. When this card attacks or is attacked: Destroy it. Any monster battling with this card is also destroyed. When this card is destroyed, you gain 550 LP. This card's effect cannot be negated by "Unicorn Of The Devouring Moon".

This card gains 200 DEF for each "Unicorn" Monster (except "Thunder Unicorn"). Once per turn, you can halve this card's ATK, and if you do, Special Summon 1 level 4 or lower "Unicorn" Monster from your Deck, with equal or less ATK than this card's current ATK.

This card gains 200 DEF for each "Unicorn" Monster (except "Thunder Unicorn"). Once per turn, you can make this card's ATK 0, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Unicorn" Monster from your Graveyard, but it's effects are negated, and it loses 1200 DEF

This card gains 300 DEF for each "Unicorn" Monster (except "Thunder Unicorn"). Once per turn, you can make this card's ATK 0, and if you do, target 1 "Unicorn" Monster: It gains DEF equal to this card's original ATK.

This card gains 50 DEF for each "Unicorn" Monster (except "Thunder Unicorn"). You can Tribute this card: All "Unicorn" monsters you control gain 600 DEF.

This card gains 200 DEF for each "Unicorn" Monster (except "Thunder Unicorn"). You can Tribute this card: Special Summon up to 2 "Unicorn Of The Blazing Wildfire" from your Deck. Their effects are negated. This card can only be used as Synchro Material for Synchro Summoning "Unicorn Of The Blistering Sun" or "Unicorn Of The Devouring Moon".

This card gains 400 DEF for each "Unicorn" Monster (except "Thunder Unicorn"). "Unicorn" Monsters (except "Thunder Unicorn") cannot be destroyed by battle. Once per turn, you can make this card's ATK 0. If you do: All "Unicorn" monsters (except "Thunder Unicorn" and this card) gain 1050 ATK and you gain 1050 Life Points.

Activate only when your opponent attacks a "Unicorn" Monster (except "Thunder Unicorn") that is in Defense Poisition. Change it's Battle Position and switch it's ATK and DEF.

Double the DEF of 1 "Unicorn" Monster (except "Thunder Unicorn") until the End Phase. During the End Phase this card was activated: Destroy that monster. This card's effect cannot be negated by "Unicorn of the Devouring Moon".

You can only activate this card while there are both "Unicorn Of The Blistering Sun" and "Unicorn Of Devouring Moon" on your side of the field, and they each have more than 0 ATK. Destroy all cards on your opponent's field.

Omg unicorns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

The OCG seems... flawless to me

I love unicorns, so i support the theme, and i like the idea of switching up defense and attack

 

Anything specific though?

 

i take it these would support sunlight unicorn and horn of the unicorn?

Depends on what their Japanese names read out to be.

Former is definite; not sure of the other.

 

(You need to say something related specifically to stuff here, as per AC)

 

Anyway, Eclipse is broken because while both Synchros need to exist, they need to have more than 0 ATK and that just means no triggering Blistering Sun (or use Switcher Horn / Inversion); so essentially you just made a one-sided field nuke for Unicorns. Yeah, not good design. Give it a more substantial requirement to trigger; possibly only use it with both of them retaining their original ATK/DEF + LP payment/card discard or something.

 

You know the card Evilswarm Exciton Knight? Yeah, that card already blows up stuff on its own [including your own], and many of us here treat it as an example of Konami's bad design. Don't be like that.

 

Dark Mist is a bit weak to be honest; assuming a full field, it only gets up to 1950 DEF. Mind you, a lot of common R4s can run over it.

Inversion helps, but not a lot.

 

Road is essentially a RoTA (or more accurately, E - Emergency Call) for "Unicorns".

 

 

 

With that said, think this belongs more in the Traditional area.

this archetype kind reminds me of butterspy to an extent with the battle position changing and the like. its a little bit broken in areas-also skill drain is a thing. this deck would easily be shut down by stall and lockdown decks too- and burins would stomp this into the dirt for days (burins being just an example of a deck that can negate targeting effects and get over atk and def changes and annoying back row that has specific timing requirements.) consider adding a counter trap that can stop reversals like honest, bujins and effect vieler/battlefader
