Trebuchet MS
Wish for Vanity Continuous Spell Card Activate only if you control no Special Summoned monsters. Neither player can Special Summon monsters. You cannot Special Summon monsters the turn you activate this card. Send this card to the Graveyard during your 3rd End Phase after this card's activation. Lots of "floodgate" cards, especially those that block Summons, don't tend to work retroactively. You can perform your usual plays that would be blocked by said floodgate before activating them, bypassing its lock and letting you sustain dominance. So, what then? Directly rectify the problem from that particular angle by making the card unusable if you control a Special Summoned anything, or have Special Summoned in that turn. But an indefinite "floodgate" that doesn't self-terminate tends to draw a lot of flak. Hence I've enforced a time limit where this card disappears after 3 of your turns. Time limit unnecessary or not long enough? Are the restrictions too tight? Or should I stop fooling around with the concept of a floodgate altogether? (No, don't answer that last one. I think I know the response.) CnC appreciated.
Darj
To answer the first two questions, I personally think the time limit is unecessary since it already has enough restrictions; and no, the restrictions are just fine. I like the card because if forces both players to play the beatdown game (at least until it is removed from the field), and of course your deck will be designed for beatdown so you would be at advantage. The opponent is running a top tier deck loaded with Special Summons? drop this and Normal Summonable beaters and ruin his/her strategies.
