Inspired - Familiar Dragon

Inspired by Voltex Dragon Formed contest and because I missed it I thought I would make a card of my own had I joined the contest. The monster I choose is Familiar Knight and all though nothing like Gearfried or Gilford I felt was still pretty known.

Familiar Dragon

ATK/ 2200 DEF/ 2400

Lore: 2 Level 3 DARK monsters

Once per turn by detaching 1 Xyz material: You and your opponent can Special Summon 1 Level 4 monster from your hands. These monsters cannot be used as Xyz material and their effects are negated. When this monster is destroyed you can Special Summon 1 "Familiar Knight" from your hand, deck, or graveyard.

Just keep in mind that Decks like Burning Abyss have no problems going into this, though I don't think they really have any use for the SSing effect [considering they're all Level 3s].

As for its destruction effect, summoning Familiar Knight is nice and all, but outside of it, it's a bit bad usability-wise [flavor works fine]

In most cases, you're giving your opponent another monster they can use to attack you with, or use as Fusion/Synchro bait. [But then again, you can do the same thing].

If anything else, it's a strong R3 beater with its 22/24 stats for whatever Decks that can afford to make it.

Would probably recommend lowering its stats a bit.

It's not a generic, yes (well semi-ish); but a bit too strong for a 2-mat R3. If you add a 3rd material, then the stats would be fine.

Love the concept! Brings back some old nostalgia.

I don't think it needs a third Xyz Material, the discrepancy between the levels of its Xyz Materials and the levels of the monsters it can target is enough as it forces the player to use a decent number of monsters of both levels to make use of its effect. I do agree with Sakura that its stats are on the high side for a Rank 3 and a slight nerf there could be in order without being as drastic a limit as another Xyz Material.

As far as OCG goes, remember that the first letters in "Material", "Deck", and "Graveyard" are capitalized, and when a card references itself it's "this card" rather than "this monster". If you want to be optimally realistic, include "EN" at the start of the suffix of your Set ID, but that's hardly necessary.

Props again for drawing inspiration from a card that probably hasn't been on many players' minds in a while.
