Forest Fire
Vanity's HeraldTrap/ContinuousWhen this card is activated: Banish all monsters in both players' hands, the field, and both players' Graveyards. Neither player can Summon monsters. Once per turn: You can inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, then draw 1 card, and if you do, shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck. If a Chain resolves with 3 or more Chain Links: Draw 2 cards (after the chain resolves). For some reason, I picked this one to attempt to fix. First off, the no cost copy of Sophia's effect needs to go. Then... What's with the chain thing? That doesn't really fit the Vanity theme, so get rid of that. And that leaves this: "Once per turn: You can inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, then draw 1 card, and if you do, shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck." And that's not really what the Vanity theme is either... but Burn decks would certainly love the reverse Upstart. There's already a card in Yugioh that does the whole draw trade thing. Card Trader. "Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw 1 card." If you changed Herald's effect to this, plus the damage (which I think would be better because it would make it restrictive as to when you can use this, instead of just whenever you feel like it) it becomes this: "Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, then shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw 1 card." And what we have is certainly something burn decks would love, but it's also a free 1000 points of damage. It feels like it needs a cost. Also, this feels more like a spell than a trap. And it's never really been a Vanity card. How about this: Robbing FireContinuous SpellOnce per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, and if you do: Shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw 1 card. At each of you End Phases, if you used this card's effect this turn: Discard 1 card. It feels... better. In any case, it's Card Trader with sizable burn; but requires a discard if you even do it.Basically it can be used for end-game burn (for pushing) if it needs to; mitigating the forced discard later. I would have the hand shuffle placed first though; it fits better as a trigger cost to the burn, meaning if you do not have a hand (some Decks don't, but they probably have no reason to be using this anyway), the burn isn't happening. ---Still, it's a marked improvement over the original card.I really have no idea what went on in that member's head, when he thought that was a good idea. Thanks for the feed back. The hand shuffle being first does feel a little better, actually."Robbing FireContinuous SpellOnce per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw 1 card, and if you do: Inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, and if you do. At each of you End Phases, if you used this card's effect this turn: Discard 1 card."I also had idea about the Summon part of this card: "Neither player can Summon monsters." What if I made this an easier to be rid of Vanity's Emptiness?Vanity's EndContinuous TrapNeither player can Summon monsters. If a card is sent to your Grave, destroy this card. EndUser
Hmm, well... this card is like the two sides of a coin: The one pointing at the Banish thing (which is the stronger to me) and the other, the non-relative to the card's name and purpose; the Draw thing. Maybe the guy's intention was to "vanish" a great number of monsters and next just added a non-sensical effect. So, instead of completely altering the concept, why not balance the basic part? For instance: "When this card is activated: Tribute all monsters you control, then banish monsters your opponent controls, up to the number of your Tributed monsters. You cannot Summon any monster during the turn you activate this effect (but you can Set). During each of your End Phases: Tribute 1 monster or destroy this card. When this card leaves the field: Return any of the banished monsters by this effect to their original positions." <Continous Spell>. Not exactly good, but way more balanced.
