Template Cards are a new mechanic that comes with their own zone. Any monster or continuous card can be placed into a template zone. Cards in the template zone don't count as on the field, and are sent to the Graveyard after 3 template cards are used (be it summoned, tributed or even discarded).

Now what are template cards you ask? Template cards are blank cards with red borders. They have no stats, no type and no effect. But when there is a card in the template zone, all template cards in your hand and deck become that card.

So say you placed a Blue-Eyes in your template zone, all your template cards are now treated as Blue-Eyes. You use Trade-In to discard one from your Hand, Normal Summon another and then Special Summon a third. You played three template cards so the card in the Template Zone is sent to the grave. Those three template cards still count as Blue-Eyes though, unless they're sent to the hand or grave. All template cards in the hand and deck become whatever's in the template zone, blank if it's empty.

This is a fairly interesting concept and could be very dangerous if the right card were placed.

kind of reminds me of a few joke cards i dubbed "the useless" one being "the blank card" who has no written atk def or level and no art, basically if you know a cards name, eff (if any), atk, def, lvl, and all that you can use it as that card or just write whatever in the card's empty art box intead to make it permanent lol.

I am trying to find a way to abuse this. How many template cards can one have?

Presumably a deck full. But they're useless without a card in the slot, and said card is destroyed after you play 3 template cards.
So it can set Limited cards to 3, and Semi-Limited to 6. That's about it in terms of abuse.
