J-Max
Forgive me as I dreamt of this Archetype lol. Essentially an Explorer takes a trip through the different parts of the Duel Field after hitting the Grave. Once it is back on the field, it gets its Secondary effect. Here is a rough OCG plan so far. "Cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. When this card is removed from the field and is in your Graveyard, Banish it. During your next Standby Phase, return this card to your Graveyard. During your next Standby Phase, return this card to your hand. During your next Standby Phase, Special Summon this card from your hand. When this card is Special Summoned by its own effect, Draw 2 Cards." Just an idea for now. Explorer Rhea Level 4 EARTH Warrior/Effect 1500/2000 "Cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. When this card is sent to the Graveyard: Banish it and place 1 Counter on it. Counters on this card while not on the field cannot be used for card effects. During your next Standby Phase, return this banished card to your Deck face-up. During your next Standby Phase, Special Summon this card from your Deck in face-up Attack Position. When this card is Special Summoned by its own effect, Draw 2 Cards." Explorer Lucinda Level 4 EARTH Warrior/Effect 1800/1200 "Cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 face-up "Explorer" monster from your Deck in face-up Attack Position. The monster Special Summoned by this card's effect cannot be used for as Xyz Material for a Xyz Summon. When this card is sent to your Graveyard Banish it and place 1 Counter on it. Counters on this card while not on the field cannot be used for card effects. During your next Standby Phase, return this banished card to your Deck face-up. During your next Standby Phase, Special Summon this card from your Deck in face-up Attack Position. When this card is Special Summoned by its own effect, you can destroy 2 cards your opponent controls."
Horu
Why not shuffle it back into the deck? This way if the card is drawn via the effect of another "Explorer" monster, you Special Summon it and activate the appropriate effect.
J-Max
Why not shuffle it back into the deck? Reason being i that it is then "Lost" as such. I wanted it to always be anywhere but the Deck.
Horu
Explorers are meant to get lost and find their way again. point being that you never really lose the card because it's constantly moving.
randomguyjw
seems like a instrsting consept, cant wate to see it in action [edit] i have an idea that has both solutions, it's shuffled into the deck face up, then some spells and traps could search out face up cards in the main deck, just an idea for a compromise
Horu
Sounds interesting really. Is what I had in mind was it returns to the deck and when you draw it via the effect of another Explorer, it's special summoned. Much like a constant watapon. Radiant F.U.R.Y.™
"Cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. When this card is sent to the Graveyard: Banish it. I think, in the interest of giving better feedback, I'd like to see more explorer cards
J-Max
Sounds interesting really. Is what I had in mind was it returns to the deck and when you draw it via the effect of another Explorer, it's special summoned. Much like a constant watapon. I was thinking something along those lines but then it would be difficult to know which Explorers have been returned and stuff so I am suggesting placing them in the Deck face-up when they are *found* as for putting them in other places? I was thinking of placing a Counter on them when they are in their Areas. Of course this Counter cannot be used for anything but more of a indicator to which Explorer has "Explored" "Cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. When this card is sent to the Graveyard: Banish it. During your next Standby Phase, send this banished card to your Graveyard. During your next Standby Phase, add this card from the Graveyard to your hand. During your next Standby Phase, Special Summon this card from your hand. When this card is Special Summoned by its own effect, Draw 2 Cards." Seems a little slow, but I like the concept. I think, in the interest of giving better feedback, I'd like to see more explorer cards Yeah looking at it now it does seem to be a bit on the slow side. Will probally make it two areas they have to visit. Also will probally have to add a hard OPT clause for them too to avoid abuse. Added a couple of monsters as a idea about synergy. Will consider the OPT a little later.
randomguyjw
the 2 monsters are vary interesting, although, i suggest shuffling the deck after adding the monster to the deck face up, if you don't you'll draw into it and will no longer be able to summon itself from the deck, and i kinda get the fealing if this set is fully made, people would not want to play agenst it because they know the monster will never go a way. but other that that good effects so far. (i dont know if its to late to post on this thread any more but im doing so to give my option on the cards)
