Mutant Monster RAEG-HAPYP
http://rt.com/usa/246645-kansas-concealed-carry-law-signed/ It's kinda old, but people should not have access to guns without the proper training. Kansas is one of six states with this law. Maine is considering it, according to a news article I came across.
Tentacruel
Very interesting. The biggest problem that I can see coming from this is accidental deaths.
Peridank
I live here... and we DO NOT need this law... at least in the rolling hills we don't... while i appreciate myself being 'trusted' to carry a weapon... i dont feel confortable knowing anyone can have one on them at anytime... Shalltear Bloodfallen
It's an interesting step to take, to say the least, but I sincerely hope it doesnt get adapted further by other states nor that they manage the intended plan of lowering the age limit for concealed carry to 18. While this may just be me, as a non-american talking, this seems like but another step at normalising a already toxic view around guns, only birthed due to the second ammendment. They are a tool to kill with, period. If you dont know how to use them, they could verry well end up killing you, and I shudder at the very idea of anyone I ever meet being able to secretly be armed. bury the year
Concealed carry is fine.Concealed carry without proper gun education is not.The primary problem I see with gun ownership is a) the grey market that makes access thereto all too easy, and b) people not being trained properly how to use them and end up accidentally killing someone. Good example for that second one was the mother in Idaho whose toddler shot himself in the face in a supermarket when he reached into her purse and grabbed her unsecured handgun. (Kid died, btw.) You must train people how to properly use a gun if you wish for them to be able to effectively and responsibly defend themselves with it. It otherwise does more harm than good. Trebuchet MS
So, how long till the next accidental death gets reported, followed by a massive clash to revert this change?
Cin
Someone who doesn't know how to use a gun, owning a gun, you might as well give an idiot one. If the US must allow people to carry guns, they should at least be able to use it properly (maintain, etc). The unlicensed bit, wouldn't that make it harder to figure out who used a gun to shoot someone? Or who potentially didn't secure it properly within their home, etc. (I like etc)
