Aroma Mistress

Level 8

LIGHT

Plant/Effect

ATK 2800/DEF 2000

Cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck.  This card can be Normal Summoned without tributing if you control an "Aroma" monster and your LP is higher than your opponent's.  You can Special Summon 1 "Aroma" monster from your Graveyard and, if you do, gain 1000 LP.  This effect of "Aroma Mistress" can only be used once per turn.  "Aroma" Spell/Trap cards and "Wind" Continuous Trap Cards cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects.

Intended to mitigate Aroma's weaknesses by allowing them to retain field presence and set up LP gain that flows well with the archtype.

Oh dear.

That's an awful lot of ( + ) and not a whole lot of ( - ) to balance it

>can normal summon with 0 tributes, works stupidly with Jasmine ( + )

>grave revival in a deck that lacks it ( + )

>Your grave revival gives LP, triggering the effects of everything ( + )

>Previous 2 points can be used during either turn ( + )

>Protects your S/T ( + )

Where is the downside?  Where is the effect that happens when you gain life?  Where is the effect for when your life points are higher than your opponents?  It's just too much.  Let me try to help:

While your life points are higher than your opponents and you control an "Aroma" monster other than "Aroma Mistress", you can Normal Summon this card without Tribute.  During either player's turn, when you gain LP: You can target 1 "Aroma" monster in your Graveyard; Special summon it, and if you do, gain 1000 LP.  You can only use this effect of "Aroma Mistress" once per turn.  "Aroma" S/T Cards and "Wind" Continuous Trap Cards you control cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects

I think that's a bit more balanced.  I made it so its not a quick effect.  It's a trigger effect just like everything else in the archetype.

The problem with Aromas are that they trigger to an effect that isn't likely to happen too often.  Though, I do agree that the multi-trigger effect is overkill and will make it only applicable to the player turn, but I will absolutely not make it work when gaining LP because it kind of defeats the purpose of the card.

But there are quick-plays and traps that help you gain LP during the opponent's turn to trigger the effects, so what's so wrong about it?

I already changed the effect so that it wouldn't work on your opponent's turn.

He's alluding to the fact that it's actually pretty uncommon for you to not be able to trigger the effects of the aromas.  If you make it a trigger effect, then while it....well....would be a trigger effect, it would be able to be used during your opponent's turn and still be balanced.

But that would defeat the purpose of the card.  It's not an Aromage, where its effect would trigger on an LP gain, but it is an Aroma that helps the Deck achieve its goals.  The biggest problem with Aroma Decks are that there isn't much LP gain integrated into the Deck itself.  Yes, there is your generic LP gain, but they're pretty much bricks without an Aromage on the field.  The only good LP gain the Deck has is Refreshing Wind and, well, you aren't always guaranteed to go into one.
