Card Comparisons with Beartic: Number 99: Hope Dragun

Recommended Posts

So i've decided to make a thread series called Card Comparisons with Beartic. This is pretty much a comparison between anime and IRL effects and choosing which is better.

So we'll start off easy to see if people like this series or not. You can give any decent reasoning as to why the choice you picked is better. Ready? OK go!.

Anime Effect: 3 Level 10 monsters
Cannot be destroyed by battle except with "Number" monsters. Once per turn: You can target 1 "Number" Xyz Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. Its effects are negated. During either player's turn, when a card effect is activated that would make this card leave your side of the field: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate that effect, also destroy all other monsters on the field, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the combined ATK of the destroyed monsters on the field.

In Real Life Effect: 3 Level 10 monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by discarding 1 "Rank-Up-Magic" Spell Card and using a "Utopia" monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) Once per turn: You can target 1 "Number" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it in Defense Position, but its effects are negated. During either player's turn, when a monster effect is activated that targets this face-up card: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

So I'd assume the opinions for this will be one sided but I want to see any and all opinions for these.

Just don't forget the reasoning for your opinions :D. It can be based off of anything so feel free to speak your mind.

Well.
It isn't as one sided as you think.
They are pretty even I would say. There is no summoning clause for the anime one so its effects are gonna be better since it literally requires 3 10's with no blatant alternative.
Although they are both still pretty bad.

Well I don't the anime version is bad at all, the anime version can summon any numbers from the graveyard (sure their effect are negate, but you still attack with it) The protection is really powerful, it protect from bouncing, destroying, sending, controlling etc..And if the effect is trigger, it destroy all other monster and burn your opponent

So. To utilise it fully, you need some numbers already in the grave, and then bust out 3 level 10's. Yeah, its not happening. Would be bonkers in trains though.

Yeah only train can use it if it keeps its anime effect, but this card (anime effect) + train number would be very scary to face against..Too bad they nerf 99 (but at least Utopia can use this card, but they don't really need it tbh)

The thing that really sets it off is because of how astral summoned it. He didn't use monsters at all XD

Didn't he have No.39 - Roots at the time? I vaguely recall that being the case. He used Hyper Rank Up Magic on it to Summon a Rank 10 using the Rank 1 Utopia. He should have still had Roots because F0 stole it in Yuma's previous turn, so it didn't die.

That would also explain Utopic Dragon's Summon Condition.

Really, this card looks awesome in Utopia Rank-Up, since you probably run a bunch of Rank-Ups, whether they be Limited Barian, Quick Chaos, or Astral Force, or The Seventh One because dead-drawing it in your opening hand still makes it useful by Summoning this by discarding it.

I like the Number Summon effect in theory, as Rank-Up Magics would also like a steady supply of Numbers to evolve into their C versions, plus there's no other restriction on that monster except its effects being negated, which is a positive for No.39 w/ no Overlays.

The big issue if you need to run a dedicated Utopia Rank-Up Deck, and Rank 4s really like the versatility angle more, and so many Utopia forms and this will eat up Extra Deck slots like nothing.
