Number 24: Wightmaiden

DARK / Rank 1 / Zombie

2 Level 1 Zombie-Type monsters

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; send 1 Level 4 or lower Zombie-type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. You cannot Special Summon monsters the turn you activate this effect. This card's name becomes "Skull Servant" while it is in the Graveyard.

ATK = 0 / DEF = 2200

No Special Summons is because this can send 6 monsers to the grave on its first turn. (Detach Wightprince, send Wightprince, each Wightprince sends 2 more.) Can also lead to Mezuki plays, Plaguespreader plays, and whatever else, but delays them 1 turn.

At least you put a limiter on its effect, so it doesn't cause crazy loops.

Additionally, this card helps the Deck out by fueling King and other stuff.

Can probably guess this is an Xyz counterpart to The Lady in Wight, given the stats and all that.

---

Because this is a Number card, why did you select 24?

Keep in mind that all of the existing Numbers thus far have a reason for having their value.

Yeah, the stats were The Lady in Wight's stats so it could stay alive and hopefully detach both. Can still easily be removed by any effect though, since The Lady in Wight only covers monsters with levels. And yeah, as stated, the limiter was because of crazy plays that can happen, especially with Wightprince.

As for the number chosen, when I started out making this card, I had no idea it was going to be Skull Servant support, or even a Zombie-Type, I just wanted to make a number, and picked the lowest one that hasn't been officially used, and went with it to see what I'd get.

When translating the numbers 2 and 4 into japanese, 'Fu' and 'Shi' are possible translations, which can also be used to mean 'Women' and 'Death' which was the basis of the idea behind a female Skull Servant card.

I searched around a bit to do with more death and the number 24, and found out that Schubert's String Quartet No. 14 in D Minor, also known as 'Death and the Maiden' (Which is where the name Wightmaiden came from) was composed in 1824.

So, that's the reason behind this card being Number 24. :)

That makes logical sense, and fits perfectly into the card.

Because it's a Number card (and I think the ZEXAL manga's finishing up), it is rather important that you have a reason for giving it a particular Number (for flavor reasons).

And together, "fushi" also reads immortal (which is more/less what King is, assuming you have enough resources to do so).

:D Thank you, both of you. I'm glad you like my card and the thought process behind it. I was thinking about filling in all remaining numbers, and your positive feedback has inspired me to continue this. I'll be back with another number (probably 26) at a later date!
