TF2_The_Scout
The Spartan deck's purpose is to take the part of the game many people on Dueling Network condemn, how the game is now use this effect, swarm the field, and then OTK. This deck takes that strategy away by having effects that change the attack power of monsters both players control. It also contains cards that take away the ability to destroy the field in order to get the OTK, so it forces both player's to interact through the Battle Phase. Flash Flyer - Sakura
Deramas's power is too high for a Level 4 without major drawbacks; especially with the fact that one would have to use Castel or non-targeting removal to get rid of it (outside of taking it down in battle) + having other positive effects. Smitus is in a similar situation at 2000/1100 stats. Keep in mind that most Level 4 monsters that exceed 1900 ATK generally have some form of drawback. In this case, you can have them lose some ATK if you do not have another Spartan out.You can set them to have 1700 ATK or something if you have no others; should still be strong enough to deal with common monsters. ------- I'm iffy about Leonidas being able to SS stuff from the Deck; especially given the fact all members of this Archetype are immune to Mirror Force + can muscle their way through battles with their high ATK. That, and it sets up for Reinforcements. Then again, the S/T cards are Reinforcement fodder also, so... ------- Inspection is also setup, and can get a free Leonidas out without much cost.Personally, I'd have it SS the Level 4 and under stuff only. (Either that, or revive from the Graveyard instead) That, and a hard OPT on its usage. However, it does have utility in being able to turn dead S/T cards in the hand into useful things. ------- Diplomacy handles floaters and other things that trigger after a monster goes. That, and also more power. ------- Spartan Calling is an Archetype-specific, but slightly easier to use version of Vanity's Call (from Cyberdark Impact). ------- Koratos tutors a card when it dies, so it helps with getting key cards. ---------------------As a whole, this Archetype essentially tries to revert the game back to older times when effect removal and other stuff during battle was common. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but SSing from the Deck is something that needs to be played around carefully (see the explanation in that guide). We have searchers who already do that in-game, yes, but keep in mind those have more limited ranges in what they can SS. That in mind, I don't see too many situations where you'd be bricking with these cards; especially with access to RoTA and everything else that's related to Warrior support. TF2_The_Scout
Okay, I went on an errata spree just now. Leonidas has a higher cost and a cannot attack condition. The Spartans just cannot be targeted, so they are now vulnerable to Mirror Force. Deramus's attack has been lowered.
