Yubel, embodiment of ultimate terror

Level 12

Fiend/dark

ATK: 0 def: 0

 

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Can only be Special Summoned by this effect. When "Yubel-Ultimate Nightmare" is sent to the Graveyard, banish it; Special Summon this card from your hand. This card cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects. You may only control 1 "Yubel, embodiment of ultimate terror". When this card battles an opponent's monster: Banish that card and inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK at the start of the Battle Step. During your End Phase, Pay 1000 LP or send this card to the Graveyard. When this card leaves the field(except by its own effect): You can Special Summon 1 "Yubel" monster from your Graveyard, ignoring its summoning conditions, except "Yubel, embodiment of ultimate terror".

 

I suggested this card and Tinkerer made it. I only slightly tweaked it.

(1) Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned by its own effect, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways.

(2) When "Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare" is sent to the Graveyard: Banish it, then Special Summon this card (from your hand, Deck or Graveyard).

(3) Cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects.

(4) When this card battles an opponent's monster: Banish that monster at the start of the Damage Step, and when you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK.

(5) During your End Phase, pay 1000 LP or send this card to the Graveyard.

(6) When this card leaves the field, except by its own effect: Special Summon 1 "Yubel" monster from your Graveyard, ignoring its summoning conditions, except "Yubel, Embodiment of Ultimate Terror".

(7) You can only control 1 "Yubel, Embodiment of Ultimate Terror".

First thing I'm going to mention is that this card has a lot of effects going for it (7 to be exact, hence why I used the Japanese version of OCG with numbers).

It's essentially immune to everything, bar Compulsory or some other cards that don't destroy stuff.

 

That, and your opponent can't really do much (unless they use Fiendish or something to negate its effects), but even then, you can still revive one of the original forms (probably Incarnate or regular Yubel; unless you somehow got a 2nd copy of Nightmare in the Graveyard).

 

In terms of its summoning, you do need to mention exactly WHERE it is being summoned from.

(Unlike the case with Terror and Ultimate, the summoning here is mandatory. Granted, you probably will summon this anyway even if it were optional; might want to change that).

 

Yeah, it's a pain in the ass to get rid of, and can float itself if opponent takes it out with the few methods that work, but it's already a chore to go through the entire cycle.

I thought it was implied that it would be summoned from hand, but I specified where you summon it from now. The summoning of one of the other forms has now been made optional to.

 

As for getting rid of it, I thought that not being able to be destroyed wasn't that powerful since things like Numbers 101 and 50 exist. Also, it seems to me that Konami is trying to push for a return to hand format with things like Yosenju and Storming Mirror Force, so I thought it would be easy to get over.

According to Black, 101 has been going out of style in favor of Castel (but it is still used when needed); likely since it bounces stuff to the Deck as opposed to stealing it for a material.

Storming has its perks in certain cases, but otherwise it doesn't work against most Decks (because they either have ways to get around it, or don't care about it too much).

 

Then again, not really supposed to be mentioning the metagame in Casual, but yes there are a few cards that do not destroy.
