Avatar of Poisonous Snakes

Queen of the Abyss

Venom support with a passion to help the Deck out to what it needs: Consistency, field presence, and Venom Counters. In addition, it also helps setup Vennominaga very well in the form of searching Rise of the Snake Deity and having synergy of such effect with Snake Rain, having it start with at least 2000 ATK, possibly more depending on when you resolve said Snake Rain. As always, feedback is appreciated.

If this card is Summoned, you can target 1 monster your opponent controls; place 1 Venom Counter on that monster. If there is no face-up "Venom Swamp" on the field: Monsters your opponent controls lose 500 ATK for each Venom Counter on that monster. If this card is sent to the Graveyard by battle or by card effect; you can add 1 "Venom", "Vennom", or "Snake Deity" card from your Deck to your hand. You can only activate this effect of "Avatar of Poisonous Snakes" once per turn.

You could, like, give a Venom Counter effect for if it's on the field, as well as a decent ATK stat. Since as-is, I doubt anyone would really Summon/Set it from the hand, when your better off ditching it with stuff like Snake Rain.

That's sort of the point. I mean, I could add something, but the main purpose of this is either Snake Rain or Offerings. (Or if you wanted to Mathman/Arma) From there, its properties let you use it for:

A) Masked Chameleon

B) Druid Dru

C) Recurring Nightmare if that ever becomes a thing

It's moreso a way for Reptile Decks to get Rise of the Snake Deity before it is a benefit for Venom. In that sense, I think it serves its purpose well, but I suppose I could tack on something. However, I was thinking it would be a bit too strong to have an additional effect in addition to the amazing floater trigger.

I think the problem is that this card is kept in mind assuming the archetype it is in actually is good. However, it really isn't, and thus the 2nd effect would be nice. In general, I think it just needs something to stand out. Yes, Archfiend Heiress is a really good card, but that's mainly because of its interactions with its archetype and how well rounded said archetype is. I can't say the same for Venom nor any Reptile Deck that would be making use of this card. It's beautiful that Snake Rain and Offerings synergize with this card, but it has to be worth including those cards in the first place. The stat doesn't even matter, I think it just needs a little bit of a push in the effect direction to be worth placing on the field.

Nice support for a forgotten archtype.

So you could Snake Rain this with 3 other Reptiles one being Vennominion then search for Rise Of The Snake Deity?

Correct! That makes it really nice in that aspect, and sets up a power play for the Deck, something Venom never really had before established. That's a huge change if you ask me :)
