Apparently the Huniepop page is getting some serious hate on GOG. Seems like a bunch of trolls trying to PO people but I could be wrong as I have legitimately seen people with these types of anger issues.

NOTE: This topic is simply to talk about outrage towards certain Japanese-like games with this aesthetic and whether Huniepop is being unfairly targeted or not. Any talk of SJW's or GamerGate and I will lock this topic on the spot. No exceptions, this does not have to do with Ethics in Journalism and is therefore irrelevant to the topic.

What do you guys think? Do games like Huniepop really deserve our condemnation? Or do they have artistic merits that many are neglecting? Do most "Japanese-like" games use it for artistic purposes or are they just appropriating a culture they don't appreciate? Discuss.

I have no clue what this site is, but the quality of the editorial is genuinely awful. It's deeply irksome and problematic writing.

1. No.

2. Probably not.

3. Probably neither.

Huniepop is literally just interactive softcore porn, where the emphasis is on the progression of actually interacting with people rather than the end result.

I guess porn watchers deserve an even lower rung on the scale of Tartarus then huh?  Better protect my children then:

It's just fun. Cheesy fun that might need you to think a little about how to best utilize your next move, but fun nonetheless.

"Japanese-like" games is a particularly broad definition, and I believe it would only refer more to the art style than anything else. If we made that its own category we'd see multiple entries that belong in many different genres - not just visual novel, despite the possibility that VNs would take up a good amount of that category.

What I don't get is why are SJWs even mentioned in the article at all, like literally it's just two people getting overly upset at seeing an anime-style game, which I can literally go to almost any youtube video with an anime image in it and find the literal exact same thing. It's just people getting overly fired up hate anime, I guess... happens all the time nothing to really discuss

I'm honestly not sure what to make outof this, since as far as I'm concerned 1. there's absolutely nothing to discuss here, only two people were mentioned having been vocal about their hatred towards the game and it's fanbase, and one of those two is apparently a confirmed troll, and by just having a casual glance at the other editorials the author has written one can quickly spot a reoccuring theme. The only reason this editorial even exist as far as I'm concerned is because the author has a bone to pick with the "SJW's" and got blinded by his own opinion when something he/she liked recieved even a slight ammount of hate.

2. It's a game. And unless you actively mod the game yourself, the Steam version will at best give you what can only be described as softcore porn, but more importantly if you actually pay attention to it you can see how the game itself is clearly taking the piss outof the "dating sim" standard since every character under the sun in that game is a stereotype in some way, and adheres to it rigorously. These arent people, these are caricatures of people.

If someone seriously thinks it's trying bring across some sort of "message" that this sort of behaviour is ok then you're giving it way more credit then it deserves. It's a source for cheap fun and just takes some pot shots at the tropes in dating sims while it has your attention, nothing more, nothing less.

And it's not trying to be anything more then that.

Lol this game's catered to nourish 70 year-old virgins who were too ignorant and sexist to get a single kiss, let alone share a bed with another person.

Pantiepop/Huniepop shouldn't really be hated on, but that doesn't mean it should be accepted, allowed or even played. If you want to do something, either jack off to yourself or get a life and a partner.

wut? What reasoning do you have for it not being acceptable, exactly? It does no harm.
