Painful Choice (errata)

Now you're just deliberately misconstruing me, Exchange and Temple are inarguably not remotely good in their new form, it's not about relative strength they are both objectively bad cards now. There's no reason to go completely changing effects to clear up banlist "space" because that's a completely arbitrary statement, there is no minimum or maximum size for the banlist and there's nothing inherently wrong with having it get larger as more and more cards come to exist in the game, it's the logical progression.

Oh I'm sorry, guess it's good to be like TCG and ban another 4 cards every format? Errata are them fixing their mistakes.

Anyway, temple has its uses in Tellars for sure

Not uses sufficient for it to be used in the deck.

It doesn't hurt for the banlist to extend because over time those cards will come off generally as their uses become less relevant or their decks are powercreeped or, again, less relevant. The likes of Painful Choice and Pot of Greed are some of the strongest cards ever made because they can be thrown in any deck with no downside to their inclusion, and so keeping them banned in their current forms for huge lengths of time is not harming anyone.

So because the banlist prohibits the use of certain cards and stops you doing things with them (which I mean, what the hell, what else was it going to ever do), efforts should be made to get good cards off it by making them bad? I'm either misinterpreting what you're saying there or what you're saying is a bit ridiculous.

I understand that changing the "send the rest cards to the Grave" for "shuffle them" is completely different. What if i made it "Excavate the top 3 cards of your Deck, then your opponent selects and adds 1 of them to your hand, also, after that, send the remaining cards to the Graveyard. You can only activate 1 "Painful Choice" per turn." So basically the excavated cards are decreased from 5 to 3 but the effect is closer to the real one which is sending rest to the Graveyard. I really don't know what is better. The current one with the shuffle or the other suggested? Also i don't want to put a "nonSS" restriction on this card.
