Draco Straybyrn
Resolved: Public Transit be free. Whereas, it would encourage fewer people to drive. Whereas, the above would reduce carbon emissions. Whereas, doing anything to help this planet is vital. Go.
Cyber Altair
that would be much more better but then if you think in the long run. Less cars will be used Most car companies will bankrupt More people will get unemployed People will have to pay higher taxes so it isn't exactly free Rise in Unemployment levels and Rise in Taxes BUT lower C20 Levels and more chances of the earth remaining for a time longer then 2012. Lilrow
I wouldn't mind paying if the prices weren't so ridiculous and it wasn't so unreliable.

It's CO2. Also. The companies would obviously sell in other countries, or produce Public Transit vehicles.
Flame Dragon
But if Public Transit was made free people the people that drive the public transit vehicles would have no way to be paid since the main source of revenue, the price to ride public transportation, is no longer their. Another problem is how will public transit companies be able to pay for fuel and for the upkeep of the vehicles.

Eventually, people would go mad over taxes since the tax cuts people (leaders) are trying to create. Think of it, Education for America has dropped its amount it has to spend, meaning no new books, a raise in lunch prices, and sooner or later, a corrupt system where school will be only for the rich due to these tax cuts. If taxes go bad, so will this free transportation sooner or later becuase not many people would pay them or becuase there won't be taxes. But still...transportation is a key figure in what we need, so yes...it is 50-50.
