[spoiler=Lore]2 or more Level 4 monsters
You can detach any number of Xyz Materials from this card; all monsters you currently control gain 500 ATK for each Material detached until the end of this turn. You can detach 3 Xyz Materials from this card; Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 monster whose Rank is double this card's, except a "Number" monster, by using this face-up card you control as the Xyz Material. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon. Xyz Materials attached to this card also become Xyz Materials on the Summoned monster), also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn. You can only use 1 "Awakened Knight Ptolemaeus" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

If "Tellarknight Ptolemaeus" granting access to Rank 5 Xyz Monsters, and as an extension "Cyber Dragon Infinity", was problematic enough to get forbidden in OCG, and I wouldn't be surprised if it met the same fate on TCG eventually, which would be the impact of another take on "Tellarknight Ptolemaeus" that grants access to Rank 8 Xyz Monsters, or possibly higher through Rank manipulation, instead? I doubt it would end well. Granted, the Rank-Up effect comes with a Special Summon lock for the rest of the turn, and the Rank 8 pool has no "Cyber Dragon Infinity" nor "Outer Entity Azzathoth", but there are still dangerous option there, such as "Divine  Dragon Knight Felgrand" and "D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga".

Hmm... after typing the above I noticed that this card is lacking both the Quick Effect perk on the Rank-Up effect and the End Phase attaching effect that "Tellarknight Ptolemaeus" have, which certainly makes the card much less threatening. Still, this remains as a Rank 8 Xyz Monster in the disguise of a 3-material Rank 4 Xyz Monster, and may be opening a couple of can of worms there; at the very least the "Star Seraph" engine could have fun with it.

I was aware of the consecuences this could have this cards rank up effect was quick, using it with kali yuga wont be that different from azzathoth really, the SS lock was to avoid another potential infinity (asuming it wont be the R8 itslef), but the ones you mentioned above are to my knowledge the most practical options. Since most R8 are number monsters, at least the good ones, this let this card with very few practical options to rank up into. It didnt have the number restriction originally, but then titanic galaxy came out and that is the closest thing rank 8s have to an infinity
