Icy
Dark Magic InstabilityQuick-Play Spell CardCannot be used to pay costs. Can be activated from your hand during your opponents turn. Destroy 1 "Dark Magic" monster you control and send 1 monster your opponent controls to the graveyard. If you would add a "Dark Magic" Card from your deck or graveyard to your hand by the effect of a "Dark Magic" card except "Dark Magic Instability", add this card from your graveyard to your hand. You can only activate a "Dark Magic Instability" once per turn and each effect only once that turn.
Trebuchet MS
It still destroys, which can trip up a few things, but not targeting makes it difficult to dodge cleverly. What happens if you no longer control "Dark Magic" monsters during this card's resolution? Does it blank out? Is the recursion replacement effect compulsory? I presume it is, given the name. It forcibly climbing back to your hand instead of you getting what you need to get makes for some awkward dancing about to get to the desired play. Icy
Given that it forces, I'd assume it would still resolve as long as the return effect still triggered.Yeah I'd say it fizzles. Since the destruction is the payment. As for forcing causing you to miss some timings, I dont think it should? Since most of the Dark Magic cards would bounce off this returning to your hand or being played anyway.
Trebuchet MS
Nothing was mentioned about missing the timing. Just the potential of the card turning up during a tutor when something else would've been preferable. Speaking of which - let's say I fire off a Symbol of Friendship, which lets me tutor nearly anything, and this Instability is in my Graveyard. Omni-searches are a little difficult since you can get anything that isn't a Dark Magic card and you don't declare what you're getting until the card starts resolving. So, does Instability go to my hand regardless of what I try to search, or does the replacement happen after I reveal the card I'm adding in accordance with Symbol's effect resolution? Icy
Okay 1) I like you. You're awesome. You know your stuff and you ask questions. Asking questions being the most important part. 2) I'd have to say it would happen after the card is revealed. Otherwise it's just a no named card added.Makes the most sense it seems.
