An Insect-Type support card, mainly for Digital Bugs. Also, no more Photoshop for a while I'm afraid, my old computer died and I had to get a new one, so until I manage to download a version that doesn't have viruses (because it's bloody expensive to buy it when the only thing I use it for is YGO card making), it'll have to be MSE.

 

 

If you control no cards, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can banish 1 Insect-Type monster from your Graveyard; add 1 Insect-Type monster with the same name as the banished monster from your Deck to your hand. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 Insect-Type monster you control; it gains 600 ATK and DEF. You can only use each effect of "Mutated Mantis" once per turn.

Well, I think nobody wanted to give a CnC is because there's pretty much nothing wrong with the card.

 

The first effect could be changed to "If you control no monsters" as opposed to "If you control no cards". No cards on the field is really hefty for an Insect-Type deck, and this card probably won't be able to utilize that first effect except in the beginning of a duel. Otherwise, it has to be pretty late game when everything on the field is dead.

 

Obviously, the aim is to go for a Rank 3 Xyz (Giga-Brilliant, Scaradiator), and by detaching the card, it gives an Insect-Type a 600 stat boost. Again, considering today's metagame, it wouldn't be a crime to change the effect to when you control no monsters. Banishing to add an Insect-Type with the same name wouldn't break the game either.

 

Obviously, the final decision is up to you. That was only a very, very minor suggestion, but the card is already fine as it is.

How long does the ATK and DEF boost lasts?

Again cool card and it has advantages and balanced stats...

Just keep in mind that you have to explain specifics on why you think card is cool (look at the above poster for example). Although, the boost should be permanent (Zazu would've indicated when it'd end if he intended for it to get a timer on the boost). 

 

But yeah, considering the cardpool for Insects isn't great at the moment, you could get away with having no monsters instead. If they were more threatening like Dragons or something, then yeah I could see that. But right now, you can afford to tone it up a bit since Insects are still pretty much underdeveloped in comparison to pretty much everything else. (Only worthwhile Insects are still Inzektors, and even those got powercreeped a while back, and some Naturia stuff). Digital Bugs would probably enjoy having this around, since at present, they really don't have much to work with, at least without being gimmicky (and helping with their R3 plays would be useful). Not saying this card will provide them the push they need (there is certainly more), but it at least helps. Suppose the small power bonus helps to get over a few things here and there, though. 

 

Otherwise, for general purposes, it's at least Tribute/R3 fodder, but yeah, considering the list of viable Insect monsters, there's not much for this card to really do. In all, it's a nice card but just that aside from a select few cards that don't really go well with this, I don't see too much of a spot for this.

For the image program, have you considered GIMP for cardmaking? It's free, so even if you only make cards on it, you won't waste money. (I know Zex and I made GIMP versions of his S9 template in GFX tutorials). Won't look as refined, but it's still presentable quality.

 

Or TCGEditor if your computer can run it (should be a sticky in General).
