Infernoburst and Nethersoul Dragons [2/2]

Inspired by Berzerk Dragon. Also seems a little silly this is going in Advanced Multiples, but w/e.

 

 

 

3 Level 8 Monsters

If a face-up "Infernoburst Dragon" you control is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: At the start of your next Standby Phase, you can banish 1 DARK monster from your hand or field; Special Summon this card from your Extra Deck, and if you do, attach 1 "Infernoburst Dragon" from your Graveyard to this card as Xyz Material (this Special Summon is treated as an Xyz Summon). You can only Special Summon 1 "Nethersoul Dragon" this way per turn. This card gains ATK equal to half the highest ATK of any Xyz Materials attached to this card. If this card would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead.

First thing I would like to say is that Egmodeus's Morale Drain is now needed.

 

I'll be honest, I really dislike the cards at the current time is because of Dracopals; it provides them with a 3200 beatstick that they can alternatively use instead of Silver Claw + Pendulum Sorcerer combo. Not only that, because it has a Numeronious Nummeronia effect with the second card.

 

The cards aren't bad, in fact, they're excellent. I only dislike them is because it's too generic and usable for the tier 0 meta decks to abuse, not that I actually dislike the cards themselves.

 

The second card is rather OP though, bearing 4400 attack. Losing 400 ATK doesn't even mean much since it still would require 4 of your turns before the ATK decreases to lower than 3000. Then again, it'll be an amazing boss for the Zombies, which really need more support in my opinion. Void Ogre and CO. just isn't good anymore against what we have today.

 

Like I said, there isn't anything wrong with the cards themselves. Sorry if I sounded harsh, but I really don't believe in anymore easy support for the Tier 0 meta decks. Maybe change the Synchro to zombie support only?

First off, Dracopals aren't Tier 0. In fact, their position in Tier 1 isn't even as drastic compared to the other Tier 1 decks as Nerfed Nekroz was when they were topdog. Second off, Dracopals run 2 tuners: Luster Pendulum, who can't go into anything that isn't a Dracoslayer, and SOMETIMES Masked Chameleon, and in those plays it's often just a last resort and not anything that adds to OTKs. Besides, Dracopals have enough access to removal and beatsticks that a 3200 vanilla won't be on their radar that much. Zombie-only support is completely against the intended flavor of this card, nor was this card intended to be specifically for zombies.

 

ON THE TOPIC OF NETHERSOUL! I agree that the stat debuff is mostly negligible, and that I need to make it more significant without hurting the monster too much. Can't make any changes at the moment, but I have some ideas.

My bad about the Dracopal comment. I don't know why I started thinking that Masked Chameleon dominated the TCG and Luster Pendulum can start making generic Synchros. Please forgive and ignore that statement.

 

A little curious of the purpose behind the cards, if it wasn't direct support towards Zombies/Fiends. Since Nethersoul gets Summoned off Infernoburst's destruction, I had initially thought of the way that it came back in a undead form, that it would be related to Zombies.

 

However, Infernoburst is still pretty powerful, if it has that timed float for an even massive beater. I think that was what I found a little troubling.

Looks interesting. A L8 Synchro that you can use in combination with a R8 in your Extra to get a strong beater that can protect itself? To be honest, doesn't seem weak. Many a deck these days have a lot of space in their Extra, normally filled up with duplicates "just in case" and I think in a Synchro deck this would make a nice addition (unless it's quasar.dek).

 

Is it too strong? Well, that effect of its is rather interesting, considering your opponent has no warning you will activate it until you do, but since you have no other reason to bring out the Synchro, I guess they would know. So far, I'm really liking that card. The ATK boost isn't too much and can fit into many many decks, and the on destruction effect is easily bypassed. Any problems with it being summoned the old-fashioned way? Again, fine. Yes, it can get very high ATK, but as I said before, the protection isn't too great, and the ATK can't really go over 4500 unless you build a whole deck based around this one card, and I don't think that would even be strong.

 

Anyhow, nice cards. I always like Berserk dragon, and think this makes a nice tip of the hat towards it.
