"It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord," her publicist tells E! News. "She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn't survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. The former Voice contestant was taken to a local hospital tonight in Orlando, Fla., tonight after being shot by a male suspect, who proceeded to shoot himself. Members of the band Before You Exit were signing autographs after a concert at Orlando's Plaza Live when a male suspect shot Grimmie. "Upon arrival officers found the male suspect, who was deceased and one victim who was gravely injured. That victim, singer Christina Grimmie, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries," the Orlando Police tells E! News. "Detectives were told the suspect, who is not being identified at this time, walked toward Christina and shot her. Christina's brother immediately tackled the suspect stopping him from causing any more harm to Christina and her fans. During the struggle, the suspect shot himself. She was doing what she loved and a dumb idiot decided to take it away from her and take her away from her fans... I wasn't perfect... But I was holding up alright... Til I saw this tweet... Stick with editing. On topic, though: Alas, poor singer. I hardly knew her, but she didn't deserve this. Couldn't believe it. I went to high school with Christina and her brother, Marcus. I didn't really know Christina, since she was a year younger, but I had class with Marcus and remember seeing Christina around the library after school. Several people I know from high school have continued to post about her and in support of her family on Facebook, including some pictures that Marcus posted earlier today. If I find out anything more, I will post as soon as possible. Rest in peace, Christina, and may her family find their way through this difficult time. When he shot John, the killer sat down next to his body and the policeman grabbed him saying "Do you know what you've just done!?" and the guy replied "Yes. I shot John Lennon."
