VCR_CAT
Your opponent chooses up to 3 cards in your deck, but they cannot choose 3 cards with the same name; banish them, then draw 2 cards. You can only activate 1 "Ancient Vault" per turn. So, I was thinking about Cupidity-- or Desires as I believe it's being referred to now. Judging by the OCG, it's clear that the card doesn't have enough of a niche to balance its use and give players enough reason to not run it. So I was thinking "What can be done to the Pot of Greed effect so that it maintains a niche without being immediately bad?" and then I thought of this nasty effect. Thoughts? Should the downside be more strict?
Darj
Personally I feel the downside should be stronger/stricter. While admittedly it has been a while since I built and played a deck, let alone a competitive one, I still think twice before considering running Cupidity/Desires, whereas I wouldn't hesitate with giving this a try in any deck that pretty much doesn't rely on Limited or semi-Limited cards to go off. I mean, I would gladly forsake Limited staples such as Raigeki, etc. or techs for those 2 card draws, but certainly not something like, let's say, Qliphort Scout (and even then, it would be possible to fetch Scout first, and then play this with less worries). EDIT - Afterthoughts:I forgot about a sort of hidden drawback this card has: your opponent gets to see your main Deck. And well, that's important because "knowledge is power" and they find what cards you run and you don't, any (secret) techs you may run, and, if it's game 2+, the cards you sided in and out, and thus potentially make better choices for them through the duel.
