what's up with the graphics on Stranger? 

 

Either way, it sure looks handy. I'd love to have it in Raidraptors to add those ever-important Rank Up cards.

what's up with the graphics on Stranger? 

The only image we have for it is from that tv info thing they have for the Japanese broadcasts. Its actual card didn't even appear in the episode, just like Clone Magic That's also the only reason we know its stats.

 

And while I like its effect, it feels ridiculously detached from its own Decktype.

1. Uni-Zombie first effect, discard Stranger to search The Seventh One

2. Uni-Zombie second effect, dump Plaguespreader

3. Summon Plague by putting Seventh One on top of your deck

4. Hope you have a non-tuner somehow

5. ????

6. Gimmicky-as-sheet profit

 

Seriously though, Stranger could be cool if they printed it without changing it. Feels like it could end up broken somehow, though...

Am I missing something here or are the main deck Cipher monsters still just going to be without a single direction to play off of? Anyhow... Like some have said already: Stranger is pretty good on the account that Rank-Ups are hard to acquire already so it would be welcomed on my book as well. My only complaint is that it doesn't even help its own archetype. The trap on the other hand... It is pretty multi-purposed and flexible, you could use it to protect the big Cipher Xyz's, keep the main deck monsters alive while you try to establish a play, allow yourself to attack over threats that could be hindering you to play, etc. While it flexible... The main problem still resides where we only have 3 different actual Cipher monsters in the Main Deck (I am not even going to count Kinetic Soldier he doesn't remotely fit in, and his effect is situational), and 2 different Cipher monsters in Extra which are still currently hard for the Cipher archetype to get out on its own.

My only thing with Stranger is that it's not level 4. Why? This is the same reason why I hate Galaxy Soldier despite being good (it's not level 8). I'm pretty sure they'll change/nerf it to some degree anyway, might as well be level 4. Legitimately upsetting.

 

The Trap is okay. Reminds me a bit of Cipher Bit but whatever. Still pretty good.
