Serious Question: Why do all the protagonists in the Yugioh TV series have daddy problems?

I mean seriously every protagonist in the yugioh TV series has their dad either missing or dead.

That would be because the men of Japan don't care for their own children! Disgusting! If those protagonists were American like me, they'd have been raised by a father who played catch in the yard with them and embarrassed them while dropping the kid off at school in the morning!

Writing out parents in general tends to give protagonists a lot more autonomy and free time to save the world with card games.
