Gorgonic Svartalfar

DARK
✪ (Level 1)
[Rock/Effect]
ATK/ 100 DEF/ 100

This card is treated as "Gorgonic Ghoul" while face-up on the field. If you control no monsters, You can Special Summon this card from your hand. When this card is Summoned: Add 1 Level 3 or lower Rock-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only activate this effect of "Gorgonic Svartalfar" once per turn.

So I get that a lot of Gorgonic monsters are based off creatures that are either made of stone or have the ability to petrify other beings. In terms of flavor, this Norse mythological creature kind of fits the bill in that it gets petrified (I depicted it as turning into stone) when introduced to light. As for the effect I didn't really care to make it to relative to the mythological creature because Konami went out of their way to not really make this archetype work out well so I gave them what I think they needed. 1) A searcher 2) A card to make some of the other members relevant since they essentially do almost nothing on their own (I'm talking about Gorgonic Ghoul, and namely Gorgonic Cerebus).

The only thing that concerns me is the name... It isn't a popular mythological creature that one would go off of (while the concept of Gorgonics is cool, Konami went a little too cliche here naming wise). And I can't really do word play because none of the other members have a use of word play in their name.

I guess it lets you set up for the Rank 1 game in Gorgonics, or generate enough fodder to make a Link-3/4 if you can summon Ghoul fast enough. Searching is fine, since they don't have any form of search game going. (Or really, the whole thing is just some anime character thing that never took off.)

Generic Rock searching is fine though; I guess Tramids could use it to an extent, but other than that, rest of the Rock decks are either over the threshold or generally suck.
