LIGHT Psychic Level 1

0/0

Effect: If a face-up Psychic monster you control would be destroyed by battle: You can discard this card, then target that Psychic monster you control and 1 monster your opponent controls; the first target cannot be destroyed by battle this turn, also it gains ATK equal to the damage you took from that battle until the End Phase, then both those targets battle. Cards and effects cannot be activated in response to this effect. You can only use this effect of "Monotonous Psycho" once per turn.

This card helps Psychic monsters increase ATK once per turn if you take battle damage. Since it makes both monsters battle, you can even use it on your turn. Although, this card is a bit more of a situational Psychic specific battle hand trap, I think it does its job in continuing battles and allowing for you to run over monsters.

I think it's a cool idea, but in the form it is now it's a incredibly situational and conditioned +0, which usually isn't worth running.

Instead, I would have it protects that card that would be destroyed from the monster that would deal you damage.

"If a Psychic monster you control would be destroyed by battle: You can discard this card; That monster cannot be destroyed by battle until the end of the turn, and gains ATK equal to the damage you took from that battle." Then it can do the re-attack bit that I'm not completely sure how to word.

This way you only have to control just a Psychic monster for it to work, but even then it's still not much better than Honest, since while the ATK increase is permanent and it can't be destroyed by battle, Honest can do most of that and works on just LIGHT monsters.

So, how you would make this card even better is make it so you can force any of the opponent's monsters to attack. There's always going to be the target that just attacked, but being able to choose which card attacks you would make this card more utility than anything, which is nice to have in a card.

[Also the Tag is DPR, not DPM. That was my bad]

Eshai's touched on the majority of the points I'd take issue with this card, but I see a hidden advantage to this-basically, a lot of monsters aren't usually privy to battle, leftover Tokens and stuff like that. To force them to battle against a souped-up Psychic monster actually, helps cut from their primary weakness-that they eat through LP like Thanksgiving dinner.

Perhaps if it activated later on in the Battle Phase, or off the initial ATK, I could see this as a way of getting past once-a-turn battle dominators. Utopia the Lightning comes to mind in this instance.

But for that, it may need to do more than what it normally does, maybe neutralize the effects of 1 of the battling monsters could do a great deal towards making this card better. What's allowed to trigger to this also helps with the game. If this card is a Spell Speed 4-in that it keeps other things from activating in response to this-then you've made a Psychic-locked answer to Crystal Wing, Invoked Mechaba, and others.

My $0.02, though, so make of it what you will.
