Malicevorous is just one of those archetypes with an okay premise of getting out Rank 2's (including some Dark Rank 2 exclusive that aren't super great, but their ranked up versions are potentially broken if you didn't burn through your hand so much on top of waiting for a Rank Up Magic to make them), but generally got screwed over by their lack of good play makers.

Considering there are number of Normal Level 2 Fiends to choose from that wouldn't mind being milled.

To be fair, Malicevorous were just a one-shot thing for Number 96 as a Deck to run himself more efficiently. In a more current format, you don't have a ton of options (even though there's plenty of vanillas). At least you can generate Link fodder if needed if you get lucky (to Link 3), or just thin the Deck to get stuff you really want.
