When this card is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned: add 1 Level 4 LIGHT Fairy Monster from your Deck or face up from your Extra Deck to your hand. (Quick Effect): you can place this card from your field in to one of your unoccupied Pendulum Zones and if you do: set 1 Counter Trap from your GY to your side of the field. You can only activate each effect of "Guiding Hermes" once per turn

So Hermes is meant to be the other Pendulum Scale for Ariadne while also supporting with Counter Fairys an enable Fairy Level 4 Spam where its Pendulum effect stops your opponent from gaining advantage from Dark Bribe and Recall and also prevents your opponent from using Counter Traps against yours. Its monster effects also help with searching Ariadne and also having this jump to a Pendulum Zone if attacked while setting a Counter Trap from your grave in the process.

 

In all not only does this enable Pendulum Summoning in Counter Fairy's but also shuts down mostly all cost based effects on Counter Traps you have while setting up your Pendulums to enable these effects.
