Phelphor, of the Deep
Players of MTG know what is about to go down. This thread is all about equip spells that requires no master nor wielder(s). Inspired by the living weapon mechanic from MTG and The Stand User Anubis (the sword) during the stardust crusader arc. Example of living weapon Artifact — Equipment Living weapon (When this Equipment enters the battlefield, create a 0/0 black Germ creature token, then attach this to it.) Equipped creature gets +/-X/+/-X and/or blah and/or etc. Anubis is a minor antagonist featured in Stardust Crusaders. He is unique in being a userless Stand who can possess anyone who wields it (the sword), and repeatedly tries to kill the Joestar Group's members in Egypt. Object is to make a bunch of tokens and steal monsters to use against opponent while putting any other monsters that can be a threat your opponent controls into face-down defense position. Tokens get summon while equipped to cards, then shift the equipment to make some kind of voltron nonsense with just about anything for the win. Finding Host Normal Spell Add 1 "Living Possessed" card from your Deck or GY to your hand. During your either player's Main Phase while this card is in your GY except the turn this card was sent to the GY; you can shuffle this card into your Deck; Activate 1 "Living Possessed" Equip Spell card directly from your Deck or GY. You can only activate each effect of "Finding Host" once per turn. Start of the Living Possessed Quick-Play Spell Can only activate this while you control a "Living Possessed" Equip Spell; Take control of 1 monster your opponent control, then Special Summon 1 (Living Possessed Token" (Fiend/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) to your opponent's side of the field. During your either player's Main Phase except while this card is in your GY except the turn this card was sent to the GY, you can shuffle 1 other "Living Possessed" card except "Start of the Living Possessed" in your GY into your Deck; add this card to your hand. You can only activate each effect of "Living Possession Evolution" once per turn. Living Possessed Resting Place Field Spell Add 1 "Living Possessed" card from your Deck or GY to your hand. During either player's turn a monster would be summoned to your opponent's side of the field while you control a "Living Possessed" equip spell card, you can change the battle position of monster(s) your opponent control to face-down defense position equal to up to the number of "Possessed" Tokens you control. During either player's turn you can shuffle 1 "Living Possessed" card in your GY, Special Summon 1 "Advanced Possessed Token" (Fiend/EARTH/level 1/ATK 2000/DEF 2000) Living Possessed Evolution Continuous Spell All "Possessed" monsters you control gain ATK and DEF equal to the number of Possessed Token monsters you control x 300. During your either player's Main Phase except while this card is in your GY except the turn this card was sent to the GY, you can shuffle this card into your Deck; add 1 "Living Possessed" card except "Living Possession Evolution" card from your Deck or GY to your hand. You can only activate each effect of "Living Possession Evolution" once per turn. Living Possessed - Anubis, Master of the Underworld Equip Spell Special Summon 1 "Possessed Token" (Fiend/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) and equip it with this card. The equipped monster gain 300 ATK/DEF and If it attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. You can shuffle 1 card in your hand into your Deck, then draw 1 card; equipped this card to 1 other face-up monster on the field. If this card you control is sent to the GY: Add 1 other "Living Possessed" card in your GY to your hand. You can only activate each effect of "Living Possessed - Anubis, Master of the Underworld" once per turn. Living Possessed - Basset, Master of the Livingworld Equip Spell Special Summon 1 "Possessed Token" (Fiend/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) and equip it with this card. The equipped monster gain 300 ATK/DEF and If it attacks a Defense Position monster, destroy 1 Spell or Trap card your opponent controls. Once per turn during either player's turn, you can activate 1 "Living Possessed" Equip card except "Living Possessed- DIO, Master of the World" directly from your Deck or GY. You can shuffle 1 card in your hand into your Deck, then draw 1 card; equipped this card to 1 other face-up monster on the field. You can only activate each effect of "Living Possessed - Basset, Master of the Livingworld" once per turn. Living Possessed - Sethan, Master of the Overworld Equip Spell Special Summon 1 "Possessed Token" (Fiend/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) and equip it with this card. The equipped monster gain 300 ATK/DEF and If it attacks a Defense Position monster, shuffle 1 random monster your opponent controls into the Deck. You can shuffle 1 card in your hand into your Deck, then draw 1 card; equipped this card to 1 other face-up monster on the field. If this card you control is sent to the GY: Add 1 "Living Possessed" card except "Living Possessed -, Master of the Overworld" in your Deck to your hand. You can only activate each effect of "Living Possessed - Sethan, Master of the Overworld" once per turn. Living Possessed - DIO, Master of the New World : Link 2 | EARTH | Fiend-Type | Link monster | 2300 ATK | Link-2 | Link points SW and E 2 "Living Possessed" token monsters When this card is Link Summoned; you can equip up to 3 "Living Possessed" Equip Spell cards in your GY to this card. During either player's turn, you can send 1 "Living Possessed" equip spell card you control to the GY; add 1 "Living Possessed" card from your Deck to your hand. If your opponent would activate a Spell or Trap card while this card points to a Living Possessed token monster, you can destroy all token cards you control (min. 1) and shuffle all "Living Possessed" cards in your GY (Min. 1) into the Deck, negate that Spell or Trap card and if you do; destroy that card. Question: is should I add "If you have no monsters in your GY; do blank" effect?
Dova
I'm not sure how the chain would work with Finding Host. You can't activate cards or effect mid-chain, simply apply them, but that won't work either considering the Equip Spell Card actually needs to Equip, not just apply. I would suggest doing this, both for this card and the later DIO: During your either player's Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the GY: You can shuffle this card from your GY into your Deck; Special Summon 1 "Living Possessed Token" (Fiend/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0), and if you do, equip it with 1 "Living Possessed" Equip Spell Card from your Deck or GY. Regardless, it leads the way to an interesting mechanic; one I actually came up with myself when I first joined the site, although I didn't do anything with it. I like your version more, anyway. Start showcases the actual possession of the archetype, although the non-targeting permanent stealing is a little bit much. Perhaps make it target, and make the recycling only work during your turn, and it'll be fine. Regardless, this Deck is very consistent. Resting Place is a tad much again, because although Trickstars' searching Field Spell has no HOPT itself, it doesn't mean it was a good decision by Konami. I can't understand what you meant with its flipping effect; the way it's worded, along with the lack of a colon/semicolon seems to imply that applies while the monster would be Summoned, rather than after it is actually Summoned, meaning it can't actually be flipped face-down. Also, are all monsters your opponent controls targets, or just the ones that would be Summoned? Last effect works well with the amount of searching and how the archetype chooses through cards, but really...it being a quick effect makes it hard to balance, especially with no HOPT. I would change the effect to this, to make it less abusable: Once per chain, if you do not control an "Advanced Possessed Token" (Quick Effect): You can shuffle 1 "Living Possessed" card from your GY into your Deck; Special Summon 1 "Advanced Possessed Token" (Fiend/EARTH/level 1/ATK 2000/DEF 2000). Evolution is really underwhelming, as a simple ATK boost that relies on your monsters isn't something worth hurting the consistency of your Deck for. However, considering its searching effect, you'll probably be running it anyway as you already have Foolish Burial of Belongings to have access to the other Spell/Traps GY effects. That and the fact there is no other ATK boosting within the archetype, meaning there's no way you could get over high ATK/protected monsters. Could get away with that "no monsters in GY" effect you mentioned at the bottom of your post in addition to that. Your Equips are alright, but the swapping needs to be changed. It's almost a pure buff, getting rid of bricky cards while giving you full control over where your Equip Spell Cards are. Otherwise, pretty interesting, and functional, save for the point below. The main problem you have at the moment is that while you consistency and speed is covered, you're sorely lacking in other areas. Your removal relies on your opponent's cards being in defense, which only your Field Spell guarantees, and even then you have to wait a turn for it to be functional as it doesn't do any changing at the moment. You could definitely get away with a few more cards to help the archetype, but please don't make them search. As I've said before, this deck is almost too consistent at the moment. You're also lacking a real win condition outside of Evolution, meaning the Deck sort of just chills hoping your opponent doesn't have plays during their turn. As said, I do like the concept; it just needs to have a goal in mind. You're juggling multiple concepts without focusing on a clear playstyle, other than the Equips. There's more to how an archetype plays than mechanics :P
