Gunballet - The Maximum ED Spamming [12]

Recommended Posts

So I decided to give the new cardmaker a spin. Seems quite good but I think I'll only use it as a way to make Link Monsters. I decided to make this archetype in the most... Deliberate way possible. They're Psychic for E-Tele access (Also turns Electrumite into Summon Sorc) they have a tuner so Needlefiber can access it, and they have a pseudo-Double Helix. Thankfully, there's a lot of HOPT.

The deck is not meant to be run on its own but rather with several different engines. Try to come up with engines you think fits the deck well!

If this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 "Gunballet" card in your Pendulum Zone; Special Summon it, then immediately Link Summon 1 "Gunballet" monster using this card you control. If a "Gunballet" Link Monster points to this card, that card is treated as if it is Co-Linked. You can only activate the effect of "Gunballet Caligula" once per turn.

Once while this card is face-up in your Extra Deck, if you control only Link Monsters and Pendulum Monsters: You can Special Summon 1 "Gunballet" monster face-up in your Extra Deck, except "Gunballet Caeseria", then send this card to the GY. If a "Gunballet" Link Monster points to this card, that card is treated as if it is Co-Linked. You can only activate the effect of "Gunballet Caeseria" once per turn.

If this card is Summoned, if you control no other monsters in your Main Monster Zone: You can add 1 "Gunballet" card from your deck to your hand. If a "Gunballet" Link Monster points to this card, that card is treated as if it is Co-Linked. You can only activate the effect of "Gunballet Alexandra" once per turn.

If you control no other monsters in your main Monster Zones:  You can Special Summon 1 "Gunballet Token" (LIGHT/Psychic/Level 1/0 ATK/0 DEF), then destroy a face-up card you control. If a "Gunballet" Link Monster points to this card, that card is treated as if it is Co-Linked. You can only activate the effect of "Gunballet Julia" once per turn.

If you control no monster in your Main Monster zones: You can target 1 Link Monster on the field; Special Summon this card from your hand. If this card is Special Summoned by its own effect: Place 1 "Gunballet" Monster in your Pendulum Zone from your deck. If a "Gunballet" Link Monster points to this card, that card is treated as if it is Co-Linked. You can only activate the effect of "Gunballet Nero" once per turn.

You cannot Special Summon, except Pendulum Monsters and Link Monsters. During your Main Phase: You can add 1 "Gunballet" Pendulum Monster from your Deck to your Extra Deck face-up, and if you do, change this card's Pendulum Scale to be the same as that Pendulum Monster's, until the end of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Railgunballet Overture Caligula" once per turn.

---

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned by its own effect. You can destroy all monsters you control Special Summoned from the Extra Deck (min. 3), then Special Summon this card from face-up in your Extra Deck. While this card is in your Extra Monster zone, you can Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck to a Main Monster Zone. (Quick Effect): You can tribute 1 Special Summoned Monster; Negate the effects of all other face-up cards on the field until the end of this chain.

Once per turn, if a face-up "Gunballet" card you control leaves the field: You can Special Summon 1 "Gunballet" monster from your hand, if you do, this card gains ATK equal to that monster's ATK. If this card is Co-Linked, you can (Quick Effect): Immediately after this effect resolves, Special Summon 1 "Gunballet" monster face-up in your Extra Deck, then Link Summon a "Gunballet" monster using this card with higher Link Rating than this card. This effect of "Gunballet Dualiotrope" can only be activated once per turn.

(Quick Effect): Destroy 1 "Gunballet" card you control or banish a face-up card in your Extra Deck and target 1 face-up card on the field; Destroy that target, and if you do, its owner draws a card. Each effect of "Railgunballet Quatrofolio" can only be activated once per turn.

You did that thing of writing destruction as a cost, in the monster effects of Julia and Overture Caligula.

Other than that, I'm still trying to grasp at the full picture of what this archetype does, but from what I can tell, they are amazing at OTKs since they can attack then use their Quick Effects to get another Link on board and attack some more. The maindeck monsters have mainly cookie-cutter-ish swarming and searching support to make said offensive plays possible. So far it looks good. Your reason for making it Psychic got me thinking. You said it's for E-Tele and Electrumite-Sorceress pairing, but... E-Tele is currently Limited. Wouldn't they benefit more from a different Type? For example, as Warriors they would get both ROTA and Isolde support, and then you can throw in some Equips to Summon the low-Level ones. IDK. Psychic is still solid, though.

The deck is basically Crystron links. You do a lot of advantage building plays going first then react to the what the opponent's doing by linking up to the Link 3 and 4 with quick effect link summon. The Electrumite Sorceress pairing is kinda relevant because it means you can quickly go for example

Dragon Shrine dump Darkwurm -> Darkwurm Plays -> E-Tele Alexandra add Nero -> Make Electrumite -> Electrumite search Caeseria -> Nero SS place Overture Caligula -> Overture add small Caligula -> Play a random Gunballet scale -> Caeseria SS Caligula -> Caligula effect, ladder to Duohelion -> Duohelion effect add another scale -> Electrumite pop to draw, add back Caligula -> Place Gate Zero, complete your scales -> Pend summon for 2-3 -> Electrumite + Random Gunballet into Summon Sorc -> Summon Sorc targets Duohelion summons another Caeseria

You're now set up for a Quatrofolio with 4 materials, or any of the Link-3s with its colinked ability. Aside from this you are also correct in saying they're very good for setting up OTK plays because of their quick effect link plays. I was thinking about giving the deck a Pendulum Call equivalent or maybe a Providence that can SS its target to a zone a link monster points to if you control no monsters in the main monster zone.

Fixing the cost text.

Oh, right the disruption effects of the Link3+ members. So it's like Crystrons that get to ED Summon during your turn, that's sweet. Also that combo is so disgustingly good, I like it! Definitely keep the Psychic Type there. With a couple of EARTHs could you even do more crazy plays like including Naturia Beast or IDK.

A Providence or Pendulum Call would be nice for sure, but you may not want to overdo the consistency or else the archetype may get too stale, IDK. Just look at Zefras with not 1, but 2 ROTAs, and one of them getting Field Spell support xD

Besides, you stated the idea was to support it with engines. With too much consistency support you may as well play it pure for the same, if not better, results. Evil me would like to see a "Draco Face-Off" for these ladies, though xD

A Draco Face-Off would probably make this deck insane lmfao

Was also thinking about making a Hornet Bit, something like

"If you have no monsters in your main zone: Reveal 2 "Gunballet" monsters with different names from your deck, your opponent randomly chooses one of them, add the chosen card to your Extra Deck face-up, also Summon a "Gunballet Token" (LIGHT/Psychic/Level 1), and if you do, replace its ATK, DEF and Effect with the ATK, DEF and Effect of the monster not chosen."

While I appreciate the twist on Hornet Bit/Draco Face-Off, IDK if the card is pushing it as a consistency tool. Hmm... go for it, IMO. It's a cool idea, difficult to splash since it requires 2 different Gunballets in the main Deck, and although that didn't stop Draco Face-Off from being "enginized", notable differences are the effect of Luster Pendulum and that this doesn't get the monster itself on the board, but a copycat Token. Just make sure the card gets a hard OPT.

What happens to the monster that is not chosen, by the way?
