The equipped monster gains ATK equal to its original ATK, but it cannot attack directly. If the equipped monster attacks a Defence Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. Monsters can only be equipped with 1 "Double up Lance". So Double Up Lance is a Equip Spell for Warriors that acts like a magnum sheild but instead doubles up on a monsters ATK while also gaining the ability to inflict piercing damage. Also while this card is powerful it is limited making the equipped monster not able to attack directly and by only allowing you to equip 1 Double Up Lance to a monster at a time.
