Goodnight YCM

Hello everyone,

I'm leaving for ever, literally, this time. I didn't want to go quietly, as I have a message for all those who have been criticising this forum since basically the start of this year. I'm not attention-seeking, this message must be known. In all honesty, I only ever left once, and after I did, my enthusiasm for this site died with it - and before you all start thinking this is a rant, it's nobody's fault.

I realise I've not logged in in about 10 days as it is, and haven't been here full-time for a few months as it is, but I'm not the type who likes to quietly fade away to be seldom mentioned again, thus, I will leave with another thread of my own. I've learned to not expect that everyone will read the massive posts that are made of this forum, which is precisely why this one will be large. It shall sort out the "noobs" from those who I really want to read this message.

To the moderators: Leave this thread open, please, it is my one and only request. It shall serve greater purpose than just a simply "goodbye everyone" thread. I will give a few words of advice for the "new age" forum, and for those oldies who are not liking the way the forum is "changing". First though, I'll set my personal affairs in order.

If you know anything about me you know how long I've been here. I wrote the book, or "chronicle", on YCM, despite not finishing it. There really are only two people who could write the chapter I wrote - myself, and YCMaker. Falling Pizza possibly could've, but his activity on the old forum was minute. Besides the three of us, very few people remain from the period.

I had planned from the start to write the chronicle at least up to the end of 2007, but as of late it has become obvious that that won't be happening. If anyone wishes to take off where I left off - you don't have to be a seasoned veteran, in my opinion - you have my permission. While I doubt that this offer will be taken up, if you want to, thank you. I'd be more than happy to help you along the way, just contact me (I've listed my details down the page).

Ever since I left for the first time in October last year, I've never really been fully engaged with the forum and a few comeback attempts proved that I just didn't enjoy it any more. The forum is not what it once was, and many members are unhappy with this. Let me say that when I first discovered this change I was not happy either, but I laugh at anyone who dwells on how this forum once was. Let me explain what happened.

This forum started out very small and moved very slowly, not as in "took ages to load", but as in there would be about a half-dozen new registrations a day and for the first few months of last year everybody new everybody. Eventually it grew and grew and members like myself dropped out of parts of the forum that essentially didn't interest them, in my case, Custom Cards and the Yu-Gi-Oh section (and I was never active in Graphic Design at all).

This lead to the tight-nit community aspect of things disappearing slowly, with many people sticking to their own sections and a small few who were active in them all. Soon enough, I found myself the only Super Moderator on the site and after a few months, the work got too much, I cracked and left. The large amount of members, which has even gone up very considerably since, confined me to General, and as my old friends left, the forum became a chore.

That's what this "change" is, it's a simple cycle of members. In all honesty, everyone who's complained about this site this year has either not gotten over friends moving on, vying for attention, or simply trying to fit in with the crowd. With the first possibility, members blame the forum and/or the moderators and/or YCMaker for letting the forum get into it's state as they miss the "old state" it was in when all their old friends were still around. While I didn't complain about it at the time (arguably), that's how I felt, so it makes sense.

How do we counter this problem? We can't! And we shouldn't. You've either got to adapt to the "new age" of the forum or move on yourself like your friends before you. Don't say "but I've worked so hard on this account" and don't say "but I think I could become a moderator" as it doesn't matter. Nobody on this forum who has more than 2000 posts is a "loner" in terms of the forum. If you have 2000 posts or more, you've got to have some friends here. They keep you interested. They're the one's you can IM all the latest "goss". They're the ones who always comment your cards no matter what. They're the one's who stick up for you. They're not the petty suck-ups who want to be your friends to be cool, they're true friends, despite the likelihood you'll never meet them personally.

If you're not happy with the forum, leave. Don't think you've got some duty. By the time I'll have finished writing this goodbye message there'll be at least half a dozen newly-registered members to replace me and keep this forum alive. This forum's far bigger than one member or one group of members on it, and one member isn't able to affect it by themselves any more. Some people may come along and "raid" the forum or something, but the mods will clean it up, and within a week it'll be a mere memory. So, save for a few obvious possibilities, the way it is now, YCM, essentially, cannot "die", as many have said it "has" or "will".

To summarise, YCM has gone through a lot, and will likely go through a lot more as time goes on. It will keep growing, members will keep joining, and nothing can really change that any more. So, to all those who complain about this site, to put it bluntly, cork it!

Next, I'll just briefly elaborate on why I'm leaving. I think I've said it before, but I'll say it again: By the time I found YCM my interest in Yu-Gi-Oh was pretty-well dead. My Ashes Right Hand and I just wanted to make some funny, jocular Yu-Gi-Oh cards, and after we couldn't get the thing to work, I registered to the ailing forum to look for assistance. Things went from there, to today. I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh for about 3 years now, card-making has no appeal to me personally any more, and I've never been interested in Graphic Design. What can I do here? As I touched on earlier, the majority of my old YCM mates are gone. I'm in Year 11 now and things are far too busy for me to spend time on any forums any more, let alone one where I really just don't fit.

It's funny really, all I wanted was some technical support and now look, nearly 2 years later (22 and a 1/2 months precisely) - I'm a high-posting Super Moderator finally signing off for good.

Also, to whom it may concern, I've noticed that SXR has been down for a while. I've already informed Draco, but to any other members of it, know that I am leaving it for good as well.

Next, I wouldn't dare leave without my trademark "last hoorah" out to all those who matter...

Danilus: Events as of late have only reinforced my respect for this man. He has inspired how I moderate to no end and I forever salute him.

Falling Pizza: Lately, it seems that we have been getting caught up in the wretched politics that is moderation. I hope this hasn't tarnished your opinion of me, as I certainly still hold you in very high esteem.

YCMaker: Thanks for giving me this experience and for all the help you've given me over time. If you could, take on board that small suggestion I made on the new policy in the Mod's.

HORUS: Ah, but one of the few of my great old friends who remains. :)

The Slime Lord: The same goes for you.

Ty: Remember the Sentinals...? :P I suppose I'll see you on MSN.

Static: You're quite far ahead of me. Reading back on some the old debates you were in, what you wrote always made the most sense. The way you own others with mere written-word is inspiring.

Wow. I think that's it. I thought there would've been more, but everyone's changed their *daylights* names so much I barely know who's who any more. I suppose I'll be back tomorrow to check up on things and make sure that my Mod Status gets removed. Yuck, this entire post is all over the place, oh well, I think you'll all get the point. If you want to talk to me at all, here's how you can contact me:

Good bye Frunk. Of the 6-7 Months I have been here I have looked up to you as a Mod. I learnt from experience you gave me. You may not relize it but it was you and a few other choice members that convinced me to stay on, to become a Legend of the new Genertaion and for that Sir you deserve this *Returns Salute*

Whatever happens in life just remember that you will ALWAYS be remembered here as a Legend and anyone that says otherwise, I will personally kick them where the sun don't shine. I normally don't get tearful but it brought a tear to my eye reading your entire post. Just remember and I know most of the other people will agree with me, There is always a seat kept warm fro you in YCM. Take care of yourself Frunk.

SOS: Actually, I was third. And as I said, I'm going to focus on school. I have very little time to dedicate to this site any more. In actual fact, I really haven't been here anyway, and to say I have everything is wrong. All my friends are gone, and very few new friends I make here feel like true friendship.

Jesus: Thank you. Good luck with moderating.

Frunk, you have been a huge help to this site. If it wasn't for your help in the beginning, the YCM wouldn't be nearly as good as it is today. I do not have much to say because, personally, I don't like you. I do respect you immensely though. As for the last thing I will probably say directly to you, goodbye and thank you.

Although I didn't know much on you,I still know that you are a great member who help us out a lot in times of need.

For that, I salute to you & bid a good old farewell.

Hope you have a better life which ever path you take.

You may not know me, since we never really talked, but you should know that you have all my respect, like everyone else here does. It's sad to see such members like you leaving who have been here from almost the beginning, but it's your decision and no one can change it, so I wish you good luck in your real life.

As a sidenote, I would like to mention that all those people who have started complaining about this site were whether attention-seeking, following their "friends" who acted this way, too, or just caring about things which don't regard them. I mean, it's like I always say, this is only an Internet forum and the regular members should just do their stuff while the staff people do theirs and that's it.

~Farewell~

It is a big shame that you shall never return to this place, during the time when I still recall you being active before I became a Moderator and most likely during the roughly one year of absence I had from this place, you seemed to be the best there was in keeping this place together, I hope I can try and pull through from these past few incidents as a Graphics Moderator I can only try as you say.

As I said though, you will be missed and if your Moderator idea is realized then you would be one of the ones who would deserve it, I still think you may come back in our distant future to check up on us all, but again you will be missed as the Frunkster, rofl. ^_^

I was debating on wether or not i should post here.

At first i told myself not to post becuase i didnt have anything to say.

Then i said dont post just cuz, mehh.

But mehh, like Cyber Altair said, "long asz post and no meme"

lol, but, all things asside.

and all things considered.

I'm not going to say good-bye.

Yepp, you read it right.

I'm not going to say good-bye, becuase there is no need to.

You started here, you changed here, you were here, and you will always be here.

Face it man, your name is all over this forum. Literally :? lol, mods of the past, present and future, could only wish to be as highly recommended, and remembered as you are.

No doubt, no doubt, at all.

You know, interests come and go, as you yourself as found out to be quite true. But, it's not the fact that you or anyone liked card making, or graphics, or anything like that.

It's that you managed to stay as long as you did, and not complain, even to your.. "death".

Theres more i have to say, but i wont, partly because i have to go the bathroom, and i dont think you'd really want to hear it.

So ill just say this.

It seems no life has returned, but respect has left. From past rebutles (yeah i know sp >.<) to present friendships.

I met you to late, but you never met me at all. I thought i knew you, but you never knew me.

From post 1, to post 7,800+, the meaning has never been varnished. I know what your thinking, and that is, stfu and quit typing.

and on that note im done
