Vampires burst into flames upon exposure to sunlightSource: Most likely based on observations of a vampire's extreme reaction to sunlightFact: Sunlight renders vampires, with their hyperdilated irises, blind. It also causes neural pathways to fire randomly in the vampire brain, creating an extreme epileptic reaction. As dramatic as this reaction may appear, it will not be enough to start a fire. Now, if I may, The first 'vampire' was named Ivan the Impaler. Now, Ivan was actually a Europeon missionary. That's how the "Vampires are destroyed by crosses"theory was originated. Ivan had 2 large wooden stakes in front of his castle gates. If someone did not listen or offended Ivan in anyway, Ivanwould impale their bodies on the stakes and leave them therefor show. Ivan had a rare blood disease which prevented him from leavinghis home during day when the sun was shining and warm.Something about Garlic prevented this. I forget though. I learned this back in the 6th grade from my History teacher.By memory so some things may be off. {This post is protected by a No-Bashing sheild}

Vlad III' date=' Prince of Wallachia called "Vlad the Impaler" (that is, Vlad Ţepeş, pronounced [ˈtsepeʃ'] in Romanian; also known as Vlad Dracula or simply Dracula, in Romanian Drăculea; 1431 – December 1476), was a Wallachian (southern Romania) voivode. His three reigns were in 1448, 1456–1462, and 1476. Vlad the Impaler is known for the exceedingly cruel punishments he imposed during his reign. In the English-speaking world, Vlad III is best known for (possibly) inspiring the name of the eponymous vampire in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula.[1] As prince, Vlad maintained an independent policy in relation to the Ottoman Empire[2] and a defender of Wallachia against Ottoman expansionism. Jerry OldMaster
What I understand, vampirism is a virus. The infected becomes insanely quick, strong and tough and changes molecular structure a bit to grow fang/skin colour etc. The drawback is the everlasting thirst of blood. Even is this definition is not right, there are still real vampires flying around. Batz.
