Dark
For the four generations of Pokemon, we all know and love the three types of starters. Fire, Water and Grass. Why did they choose these types? Fire beats Grass. Grass beats Water. Water beats Fire. Simple. But now, these three match-ups are getting boring. Each time, it is the same. Water types are good in the beggining, Grass is better in the end, Fire is good in the middle. But what if there was another three types that could be used? Fighting, Dark and Psychic. Psy beats Fighting, Fighting beats Dark and Dark beats Psy. Perfect. I think that this matchup would work better. The starters would be stronger (Tyrouge, Abra and Sneasal or something) and it would be easier to beat the game. Also, it would be better than the Fire Grass Water matchup we had. So, please discuss on which would be better. *Note- If someone thinks this should be moved to polls, please feel free to PM a mod or whatever. But, I thought it should go in General. Larxene
But Dark has the unfair advantage of being completely immune to Psychic
Dark
Hmm... somebody just made a good point. When you think about it, that is true. You choose a PSY and your rival chooses Dark. But that might work, because then you would HAVE to catch a new PKMN. But, you are still right. It would be unfair... Brushfire
Hence the reason us ROM Hackers decide to go for original starters like Eevee or Tyrogue to give the player some choice to what Pokemon he wants.

Brushfire
^ Is not bad... However, there are some better triangles.
Dark
At Pyro Knight, Eevee would be an AWESOME idea for a starter. You can evolve it into one of 6 different types. So, you can change it to your preference. But, with the starters we have, it can only evolve into the same type.

Umbra
I think my friends and I figured out a Water - Electric - Rock/Ground/Fighting/Whateveritwas triangle that seemed useful enough. But that was a LONG time ago, in the era of Mewtwo and the first movie.
Dark
The Ground/Electric/Water triangle would be as cheap as the Dark/Psy/Fighting one, because Ground is completley resistant to Electric.

I like hard. Besides that would be like Family Guy without Peter or Dragon Ball Z without Goku. I like the starter types.
Guest Tiger
Fire + Grass + Water. It is like that so your rival can pick the opposite of the pokemon type you picked. I.E. You chose Fire. Your Rival chooses water. You chose grass. Your rival chooses fire. You chose water. Your rival chooses grass. Simple.

Dark
See... if you start w/ Piplup, Turtwig and Chimchar, it is just like all of the other PKMN games. I am not saying that this matchup is bad, but it would be cooler if they had PSY DARK and FIGHTING.

Dark
Yes, but maybe PSY types can learn other attacks. Aura Sphere, for example. Also, some can learn ExremeSpeed.
