Christmas Edition

 

 

Diamond in the Rough is back, and this time with a special Christmas theme!

 

This is a card-making contest. In this contest, entrants will be making cards to support one Gameplay Style that currently cannot compete in the MetaGame Arena. Your job will be to attempt to bring your chosen Gameplay Style up to a MetaGame level. This does not mean your cards cannot be creative or unique. It is your job to find the right balance between practicality and creativity.

 

Each entrant will create 4 cards (no more, no less). These cards will relate to each other, and will have something to do with, or in some way support, a style in the TCG that is not currently Meta-worthy. Here are the selectable styles and explanations of each:

 

Alternate Win Condition

Beatdown

Burn

Combo

Mill

Stall

 

Alternate Win Condition refers to effects like Exodia and Destiny Board. Beatdown tends to focus on getting out monsters with high raw ATK. Burn decks whittle away at the opponent's Life Points with effect damage from Monsters, Spells, and Traps. Combo works with specific card combinations to produce strong results, such as One Turn Kills or Fusion Monsters. Mill involves causing the opponent to deck out. Stall is pretty self-explanatory, most often used to help accomplish Mill, Alternate Win Condition, or Burn decks (though those 3 can be made without the use of Stall) by stalling the opponent's strategy until yours can be completed.

 

Each entrant can pick any one style, and it can be the same as someone else due to that there are only 6 styles and probably more than 6 entrants :P. In your reservation post please let me know which style you're going to be using, and list it again in the post with your entry cards so that it's easy to reference which style is being supported.

 

Summary of Entrant Duties:

-Make exactly 4 Cards, 1 must be a Spell and 1 must be a Trap. The other 2 can be anything except the below exclusions.

-Exclusions: Your other 2 cards cannot be Dark Tuners, Dark Synchros, or Divine-Beast Monsters.

-Cards must work together to support the style you choose

-Artist Credit must be given for images used on cards

-Cards must be balanced, and fit the style

-Entries are due by 8pm Central Time on Friday December 19th, 2008

1st Place: 3 +Reps, 500 points, and a free name change!

2nd Place: 2 +Reps, 500 points, and a free name change!

3rd Place: 1 +Rep, 500 points, and a free name change!

4th Place: 500 points!

5th Place: 500 points!

 

NOTE: Free name changes are optional, you don’t have to get one if you don’t want it. If you decide to get a name change, it will be posted in the Guru thread but is separate from those changes, and you can get one regardless of when your last change was, and it won’t count against your next one.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card is treated as a Dragon Type monster when in your hand. This card can only be Special Summoned by paying 2000 Life Points. If you have less than 2000 Life Points, this card cannot be destroyed by battle. Remove from play 1 Level 6 or lower FIRE Monster from your Graveyard and increase the ATK of this card equal to the ATK and DEF of the removed monster. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, neither player can Advance Summon unless they pay 500 Life Points. When this card is destroys a monster, place 1 Burning Counter on this card. When this card has exactly 4 Burning Counters, Special Summon 1 "Canibal Token" (Dragon-Type/FIRE/Level 4/ATK 2000/DEF 0) in Attack Position. When the "Canibal Token" is selected as an attack target, activate 1 of the following effects:

- Increase its ATK equal to the number of FIRE or Pyro-Type monsters on the field x300.

-End the Battle Phase and Destroy this card and increase 1 FIRE Monster you control by the ATK of the “Canibal Token”.

- End the Battle Phase and destroy 1 Card on the field.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card was selected as an attack target by a Pyro-Type monster, take control of that monster until your End Phase. If this card inflicts Damage to your opponent's Life Points, activate 1 of the following effects:

-Send 1 Pyro-Type monster ro the graveyard to attack direcly.

-Destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field.

-Inflect 1000 points to your opponent.

Once this effect has been activated, send this card and your hand to your Deck and shuffle your Deck. Then draw the same amount of cards you put back in your deck.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned from the Graveyard when a Level 5 or higher "Evil Hero" monster is destroyed. When this card is Fusion Summoned, Release 1 "Evil Hero" monster you control and increase the ATK of this card by 200 and decrease it's DEF by 200. When a monster with "Hero" in it's name is Normal Summoned, Release the Summoned monster and activate the appropriate effect based on the Released monster's name:

“Evil Hero” - Draw 1 card and add 1 Level 4 or lower "Evil Hero" monster from your Graveyard to your hand

“Destiny Hero” - Increase the ATK of all monsters your opponent controls by 200, until the End Phase of your next turn. Until the End Phase of your next turn, this card is unaffected by Spell Cards.

“Elemental Hero” - Add 1 "Skyscraper" Spell Card from your Graveyard to your hand.

After activating the effect of this card, destroy this card and inflict 1000 Direct Damage to both player's Life Points.

When this monster is destroyed as a result of battle Special Summon 1 "Darkblaze Dragon" from your Graveyard also Special Summon this monster to your side of the field battle damage is calculated as normal. Discard 1 card from your Hand to Special Summon as many "Decoy Dragon" from your Hand or Deck to your side of the field as you can. When this monster is in your hand send monsters to the Graveyard whose total levels equal 12 to Normal Summon this monster to your side of the field. When this monster is on your side of the field it is the only monster your opponent can attack. When this monster destroys a monster as a result of battle remove that monster from play. When this monster removes a monster from play by destroying it by battle you can discard 1 card from your hand to remove another card on your opponents side of the field from play also you can negate and destroy all Spell and Trap cards on your opponents side of the field. This card is unaffected by any and all of your opponents cards. Also for each turn that passes by this monsters ATK and DEF is increased by 1000. Also each turn you can pay 500 Life Points to add your Graveyard to your Deck.

I'm afraid Cure isn't one of the options, because Cure decks usually have another style to them (like Cure/Burn) because raising your Life Points alone will not win you the duel ;)

Nice cards, but one of the 4 cards has to be a Spell Card. Also, you need to post credit for the images used on your cards ^_^
