in fact a good monarch deck never had less than 7 monarchs, or 5-6 and other tribute monsters like jinzo or PMT, and they're the basis of the deck...

 

 

i used to think that monarch never deserved a ban of any kind... and i still sustain that, specially when monarch brokeness comes from their summoning resources... without frog monarchs would be severe delayed, of course nobody thought on that...

Wrong.

 

A Monarch is still a Monarch. It just doesnt stay on the field. Thats all. Pulling the Rug, Horn of Heaven, Solemn Judgment. Those are examples of stuff that will get rid of Monarchs and make them lose their effects that activate when they get summoned.

Actually, Caius's effect would still activate. It's just if you target Caius himself it won't work. Same goes with Raiza, you can't return him if he is Bottomlessed.

Plenty of cards are better for Gaia OTK, like Valkyrion, and Heraciosphinx is equal to it too, and since it has a limited use in Gaia and only works in Gaia, it's still worst Monarch imo.

Valkyrion is used in Dark Gaia as well for Draw power and the chance of Fusion with a Fiend. Dark Gaia only needs at least 4000 ATK + Infernal Gainer or 4000 ATK through Dark Fusion + Dark Calling to OTK. Granmarg and Heraciosphinx still contribute positively to this.

Granmarg has niche use in Dark Gaia decks. Zaborg is useful nowhere.

 

Useful in 1 deck > Useful in 0 decks.
