Infernal Avarice

Hey, everyone. I was recently commissioned to color an image for a member of my Dueling Forum, GX DuelSchool. The image turned out better than I expected, so I decided to use it in card that will boost the sadly underpowered Fiend Archetype, while also doubling as a backup for late-game TeleDAD.

Infernal Avarice

Lore:

When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, place 1 Counter on this card (max 3). You can send this card to the Graveyard to draw 1 card for each Counter on this card. You can remove 1 DARK monster in your Graveyard from play to Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. When this card is removed from the field after being Special Summoned this way, remove it from play.

Now before you say this card is broken - as I'm sure, some of you will - kindly take the following into consideration. Note the card's Attribute - FIRE - which prevents it from being run easily with Allure of Darkness. Notice, also, its comparably low ATK to the powerful Level 4 monsters that are seeing popular play (Elemental Hero Stratos, Dark Grepher, Thunderking Rai-Oh). Finally, notice how it can't return as constant field presence.

Taking all of these into consideration, the card itself is balanced and (under)powerful support, created with the purpose of facilitating the summon of Dark Armed Dragon.

An interesting little tidbit is that Infernal Avarice can send itself to the Graveyard, even if it doesn't have Counters on it. Then, simply RFG a DARK monster, and voila, Dark Armed Dragon.

Discuss.

Effect is original and balanced. The picture is good but I think it would look more "Yu gi ohish" if you sharpened it a bit. Also, did you edit the picture? Because if you did I can clearly tell it was cut at the bottom left near the tentacle things. Other than those minor nit picks, the picture is good. I like the name as well. 9/10

my greatest respect for the pic.. is awesome... yes the card seems like something that couldn't be absent in any DARK deck ...... and it seems like you have been thinking the effect a lot so it would be tuned properly for the game............at a competitive level he is enough, but at a "just for fun" level.. I would look for some more cards to make it a half FIRE/half DARK deck... that would be interesting since Ive seen some decks that focus in 2 different attributes before...but again.. that last suggestion would be at the "duel just for fun" level... in a dark deck alone this card is really functional.......

9.5/10

just before I end this comment I have a question.. what does TeleDAD stand for? you mention that alot........... I think I have an idea but don't know the exact thing

Hm. Yeah, I guess it got a bit blurry. I recolored the original image. A simple click under the Spoiler, "Original Image", would have shown you that. As to the 'tentacle things', there wasn't anything I could do about it - I can redraw some line art here and there, but freehand drawing and sketching are beyond me.

Yeah, he's really supposed to be a TeleDAD tech card, especially for late-game Summons. I wouldn't run more than one of him, though, since he's not a Dark monster.

TeleDAD stands for Teleport Dark Armed Dragon - the most powerful Deck Type at the moment...

Thanks for the comments and ratings, everyone.

Wait so the last card I saw of you "Extra Freeze" was told to be a good counter or at least would slow TeleDAD down. And now you create a card that works great with it O_o. Do or don't you like TeleDAD?

As for the card, very nice picture. Don't see any quick way to abuse it or any special way to ruin this card easily. 9.5/10

Mhm. I actually got the idea off of Psychic Lifetrancer. All I had to do was tie the name in with the effect, so I gave it a 'Avaricious' effect - one that can draw up to 3 cards and then, give you Tribute/Synchro Fodder and control the Grave.

The gift that keeps on giving, no?

Zynix: Yeah, Extra Freeze is supposed to slow down TeleDAD a good bit. That's an Archetype that I'm creating, and I have it all mapped out. This card just came on a random whim when I saw how cool the image turned out. TeleDAD is fun and addicting to play with, sometimes, but it's really ruining the game. Malicious is just so damn abusable!

Thanks for the rating.
