In North America didn't existed species of primates. They need all that to live in the trees. The giant spider monkey was similar, but if it changed it's habitat (like moving to North America) it probably would evolve into something different, maybe living in the ground (then it would change it's shape, like the gorillas), then they would turn into something similar to BigFoot and other big apes reported in America.
