Godot
Lycan Lycaon I see teh resembalence. (Sp?) But still, this thing has been reported around the same lenght of time that Bigfoot, Nessie and Aliens were reported.
-Berserker-
Lycaon was the inspiration of the myth/legend/reality/whateveryouwanttocallit of werewolves. The word Lycanthope comes from his name.
DNovaKnight
Yup buddy, I'm back ;) My Mapinguari was to reference the "cannibal" idea, hairy woodland bipedal beast. Not the mysticism tangent. That was my deamon flyer or abominable snowman idea. And yah, there are many parrallels between Greek mythos and cryptids. I don't think wendigo is inspired by the Lycaon myth. Lycan sure ... but not wendigo. It's algonquin in origin. i doubt they knew of those Greecian myths. Remember, Natives were very spirit oriented, as well as concern for shape-shifters. The wendigo was probably more of an evil spirit to them and he probably inhabited unsuspecting bodies and thus with this possession the human form would change. Thus like the "origin of why cannibalism is bad" i said a little ways back. Only a subhuman or monster would eat a man, the spirit would make them subhuman sincethey probably figured someone would have to be corrupted to do such a thing. fenrir
Oh hey DNova =D -is Fenrir- Anyways, yeah, Wendigo was not inspired from any sort of Greek Myth. It was Indian if I recall.

-Berserker-
Hey both of you!I was reading someone else's newspaper in the bus and I saw something about a cows being killed by unknown animals. The veterinarians think the responsible is a big bat. I'll update when I find the newspaper to read it.

-Berserker-
Nessie is an species, not an individual. If one dies, then there is still other.
Godot
He means the Nessie in Loch Ness, not Champ and such.
-Berserker-
There was always more than one Nessie in Loch Ness. Just one is practically impossible (Except if an alien force placed it there) (By alien I don't mean extraterrestrial).
Godot
I always went with the Alien force idea. I mean, rlly. Nessie gets trapped because of Ice Age, reproduces, and eventually dies.

The_Prince_of_Death
Hmm Nessie dead? Possible. Nessie could just be a species from the dinosaur era that slowly died out. you never know. Although I like Nessie. Nessie is from what I can say the most real of the cryptids. they have pictures of Nessie swimming although there are some fake ones but there are the ones of Nessie's back going above the water surface. Godot
I still go with Mothman being the most realistic. But besides my MM love, I say Nessie and BF are tied, because there is still the Patterson Film.

Godot
Yesh. And before you bash it, they've proven that an olympics sprinter in a gorrila costume cannot move as fast as that.
