Wave-Motion Cannon: Discussion

Recommended Posts

lol@the idea of using this card in a deck for the sake of getting them to use Solemn/spell removal cards on it

I said some of my decks to refer to the decks that have really important spells and traps and/or can actually survive 8 turns to let the Cannon activate. By the time where it could deal 8000, it is usually been removed from the field by one of the following:

-Dust Tornado

-MST

-Heavy Storm

-Solemn Judgment (at activation)

-Dark Bribe (at activation)

-using the effect to end the game or substantially hurt the opponent

Or, by the time it can deal 8000 damage, a winner has already been determined.

I'm not really saying that I'd use it specifically for that reason, but you have to admit it's great Spell/Trap removal bait and provides another possible win condition. I think Wave Motion Cannon overall is a great card.

3rd best burn card

1.) Ring of Destruction

2.) Dark Dive Bomber

3' date=') WMC

Lyla, DaD, JD, MST, Heavy, Celestia, Twister, Dust Tornado, = Death for WMC

[/quote']

Fixed.

in advanced TCG format..

I thought that would be obvios because most people play TCG and Advanced format...

Also, Ceasfire > WMC because Ceasfire is faster

After putting more thought into it, I'd say the top three burn cards would be:

-Ring of Destruction;

-Chain Strike;

-Ceasefire.

I was simply stating which cards are the best burn cards. You also never mentioned "in this format" in your post. It's also not "obvious" because there are people who play OCG or traditional format, and this is not a banlist discussion, simply a discussion of card effects.

I believe that it would be unsuitable to consider the banlist when comparing card effects. As that would change every half a year and the restriction on some cards are irrational, unfair, etc.

I have to admit when thinking about WMC and Ceasefire, I was clouded by the fact Ceasefire was limited which lead to my conclusion that WMC is better. However, I have to agree with you. Ceasefire is chainable which means a lot with S/T destruction effects being rampant.

While Chain Strike requires deck dedication, it is undoubtedly powerful.

A chainable quickplay spell that can easily deal 2000 damage without drawbacks.

The fact that Ring of Destuction is basically a chainable monster destuction normal trap without a discard cost already makes it extremely powerful. (Compared with Raigeki Break/Karma Cut/PWWB which needs a discard.) The burn effect is a double-edged sword, but that doesn't stop it from being great. The damage to yourself doesn't matter unless it's a burn mirror match anyway.

On-Topic:

Wave-Motion Cannon gives your opponent pressure, it's like saying "Lol 16 turns left", against non-swarming decks/control decks, that's not much time left.

It can make opponents panic and overextend in an attemp to finish the WMC user off as soon as possible.

The way you can set it off any time you want on your main phase is great too. Though that would take some skill/luck to decide when to set it off.
