Yes, I am aware its got a horrible nature, but I'm far too lazy to get an Adamant one. Well, I did find an Adamant one, but it has Damp instead of Water Absorb.

You must've used cheat codes for that.

I dont understand you're statement.

Also,

@Dark

Normally I wouldn't care about the ability, but I plan to pair this with my Tentacruel in 2v2 and use Surf to heal.

Is that seriously 2 Speed and 4 Defense? I haven't seen stats this unbalanced since...never. How did you even do that? +0 Speed for 10 Lvls? This game gets weirder everyday.

Cuz teh idots ov teh interwebz are stoopid lol.

Are there any better fighting type moves?

Focus punch is, in my opinion, a move only good for a Rester.

The way the set works is you Sub first while your opponent can't do anything. Then you set off the focus punches.

Of course Poliwrath cares about Water Absorb:/ Any Pokemon would love to gain recovery from Water Moves.

It's more sweeper oriented, and it's not particularly bulky. It only takes 1/16 from Stealth Rock, so there isn't much use for Water Absorb, except to completely wall lolVaporeon since it can Sub to protect itself from Toxic and Surf will fail. And if you are using Poliwrath in OU, that's pretty sad anyways. And Damp has it's uses, but not when you have a Sub up. If Poliwrath had a choice, he'd want Water Absorb, of course. But he doesn't care all too much, since it doesn't help him MAJORLY in the long run.

There is no way that a lv. 12 Poliwag has 252 HP and ATK. And how can it learn Ice Punch if it dosen't have any arms!

252 is referring to the EVs' date=' and Ice Punch is most likely an Egg Move or Move Tutor move.

[/quote']

And what is an EV

Effort Value

There kinda hard to explain, but here goes nothing.

When you encounter a wild Pokemon e.g Gardevoir(I doubt you'll find a wild Gardervoir) and you win your Pokemon's Special Attack increases by 3 EVs, for every 4 EVs you earn the actual stat value raises by one.

and there is also a limit

252 is the limit for an Individual stat

510 is total limited MEANING

that you can have 2 Stats with 252 and 1 stat with 6 or you can change it up and spread it out more.

A bit off there. You can have a maximum of 255 in any given stat' date=' and a total of 510, meaning you can "255 max out" two stats.

However, EVs ride in multiples of four. Every 4 EVs nets you 1 extra stat point [b']by level 100[/b]. So since 255 is not divisible by four, and points round down, and you cannot put 256 in a stat, 252 is the best option. That is an extra 63 stat points compared to 0 EVs.

Natures are a different thing, and in a nutshell, the increase one stat by 10% at level 100 while decreasing another stat by 10%. I don't know the actual mechanics behind how natures and EVs coincide, but I'm pretty sure EVs are always applied first and then the nature boost.

yes the EVs are applied 1st heres is the forumula(i used my calc. to find what the stats would be if i did what to what stat of course i always wrote down the basestat of the pokemon i'm training)

I'll use Garchomp as an example

Hp stat = ((2*BaseStat + IV + (EV/4) * Lv/100 + LV +10)

If it was a Lv 50 Garchomp w/o IV at 20 and we didn't EV train it for HP

((2*108 + 20 + (0/4)) * 50/100 + 50 +10) and now lets simplify it

216+ 20 +0) * .5 + 50 +10

236 * .5 = 118 + 50 +10 = 178

so your Garchomp's HP at lv 50 with the above info would be 178

Now lets apply some EVs i'll put 252 EV

((236 + 20 + (252/4)) * .5 + 50 +10

236 + 20 +63 = 319 * .5 = 159.5+50+10 = 219.5 than round up

Now your Garchomp has 220 Hp

and for any other stat

Stat = (((2*Basestat + IV +(EV/4)) * Lv/100 +5) * nature

Nature's number is as so: .9 if its a negative nature for the stat. 1 if its netural. 1.1 if benefitful to stat.

I'll use Garchomp's Atk as the example

w/o Ev training and 20 as the IV at lv 50 and lets give it a benefitical nature

(2*130 + 20 +(0/4)) * 50/100 +5) * 1.1

(260 + 20 +0) = 280 * .5 = 140 +5 = 145 * 1.1 = 159.5 than round

so your Garchomp would have 160 Atk

Now lets apply 252 Evs

260 + 20 + 63 = 343 *.5 = 171.5 + 5 = 176.5*1.1 = 194.15 than round

now your Garchomp would have 194 Atk(or around 194)

now lets give it a hindering nature but with the Evs. Everything is the same as above but change the 1.1 to .9 so

176.5*.9 = 158.85

so about 159 would be your Atk

and without the hindering or benetifcial nature your garchomp's Atk would be about 177

Ivs also play apart in your Stats if you need the forumula for that just let me know

I can explain IVs. IVs are random numbers for each of your stat between 0 and 31. Each IV is the same as 4 EVs at Level 100, but you cannot control what you get outside of breeding.

So you can get a maximum of 31 stat points through IVs for each stat.
