Does anybody else on this site feel it's becoming so boring lately...

Every 1 is p***ed off, nobody seems to care anymore a lot of our most respected members along with not so respected 1s are leaving. Every 2nd thread you look at you see spam or something of the sort. In my opinion the whole site is on the way downhill. People are being meaner to each other including myself, we are having a lot more wild outbursts, big arguments and a lot more basic rule breaking. I no some peoples answers to this are going to be if you don't like it here then leave. But that is exactly my point b4 people attitudes have changed on the site. The main reason im staying here now is probably the ccg thing thats going on..

anyway discuss how you feel about the current situation, or do you feel there is one..

Well. There's a lot more members on this site than this time last year (more than 3 or 4 times the number) and most of them are just too lazy to read the rules. Members who actually bother to read the rules (myself included) get fed up with having to put up with new members who don't.

you haven't been here long enough to know the difference, theirs alot of Spam but the mods are trying their best to keep up with them. As for the disrespect no its not allowed on here see the rules!!! and arguments aren't allowed unless you do it through PM.

Spammers come and go. That's beyond our control.

We can control the co-operation between the community and the fun we can have.

Doesn't work like that.

You are asking us to force it on people? And if they don't want to, then what? Nothing.

Like it or not, Staff is not in control of any of this. You all are.

"You all are" includes the staff, Icy. The forum being lacking on original content is a problem relative to the entire community: regular members for not creating interesting discussion, and the staff for not creating anything at all; in all honesty, running a board isn't just about cleaning and locking, though it is a vital part. The staff, while having no "contractual obligation" whatsoever, does have, in my view, the moral obligation to keep the forum not just a tidy, but also interesting place. It's not mandatory, but it is entirely welcome to see a big interactive project put in motion by those in charge every now and then.

DJ Osiris, for example, tried to revive the Custom Cards area by doing something only a mod can do: a Sticky for a Synchros and Tuners collection. A regular member, namely Spire, created a very popular thread in General known as the YCM lottery.

That said, don't be so hasty to pass the ball to us. It's a functional articulation between the staff and the members that makes any board run and keep its interest, this one is no exception. ;)

I have recently opened a Thread in C&S regarding things to do in Custom Cards. The Mod team does try to keep things interesting, including the ongoing campaign of making new Cards and New Designs. Teamwork is one thing we can all be happy with. Perhaps more Projects and stuff like that.

Even if we do. Activity and politeness boils down to the Main members, not just Staff.

Even if we are nice, and make many threads that have good interesting things etc, who is going to post? Just staff? And if we are nice, are we the only nice ones?

One cannot past the buck to a single group. But everyone at once. So if you see someone be mean, be nice in return. If you see someone needing some kind of help, help them, and ask nothing of it... Etc. If you aren't like this, and it carries on to other members demeanor, even if some are nice, it may not succeed.

So this topic simply ends in, If you see someone being mean, be nice in return.

EDIT: Glasstin created that thread, but it has been passed down as time went on.

Mate, I could care less about friendly mods. That's not really the issue here, some mods are nicer than others, I can easily like somebody like Crab Helmet as much as someone like Glasstin10 as long as they do their job. Being nice or mean is definitely not the issue, in my view - maybe the topic creator's, not mine. ;)

Leave the interesting discussion threads to the common members; make yours if you feel like it, that's not what we're asking of you. Do something different, host projects, don't be afraid to think outside the box. The collective minds of the staff are surely able to come up with interesting activities. Those that don't participate in anything except making lame cards aren't the ones who are currently complaining either, so don't worry about those. Mind if I give a specific example? There is a site I go to that, once every year, hosts a massive competition known as The Mole. The staff gets together and creates a story, divided in several chapters, about a team that has to go through a number of challenges, and one of the members is plotting to make everybody fail in the end. Very subtle clues are given within the story, and the entire community is then challenged to find the Mole, and present their reasons (the more valid proof they gather, assuming they guessed the Mole in the first place, the more points they earn). In the end, coupled with a quiz, the member with the most points earns some kind of reward.

It's not hard to come up with projects, and let's be honest: we can try and make them, but most of them would go unnoticed. A decent, well thought-out project by the staff would certainly be a breath of fresh air to this place.

tl,dr: keep modding the way you have, but don't restrict yourselves to modding. Be an active, important part of this community, creativity-wise as well. Please. ;)

Agreed.

There is too much spam. If just the mods and the supers would be on more often... Only Darth and sometimes Crab and DJ are ever on of the supers...

The world isn't perfect, and since the internet is a creation of man, neither is the internet.

But unlike in the real world, you have the option to change things, you have the option to get up and go anytime you want.

You can either sit here and complain about how things aren't goin your way, or you can get up, and get out and find something that suits you more.

With that being said, a forum is a community environment, you have the rule followers, the nay sayers, the yay sayers, the inbetweeners, and the ones trying to hog the spotlight.

What you have to do, is find your niche, and be happy with it. Like in any community, you yourself cannot change it as a whole, but you can show/set an example (with patients) and in time, people who have common sense, will follow you.
