Tabris
what does your argument even mean tabris? of course if they were vanillas, no one would care.the problem theyre jabroniing about is that the generic synchros like stardust, red dragon, and goyo are extremely over powered and way too easy to get out. ... which also means that somethin' about the effects of Stardust, RDA, and Goyo are at fault... ... which I find extremely laugable, especially considerin' that Goyo's a bulked-up version of Red Moon Baby, and RDA's a masochistic version of Ultimate Tyranno, et al. CrabHelmet
The point of the "vanillas" argument was to show that the Synchro Summon mechanic is not inherently a problem, explained Crab Helmet. I find the power creep introduced by Konami's handling of the Synchro Monsters completely unnecessary, but not in and of itself a problem to the game (with certain exceptions, such as Dark Dive Bomber). That's where the Synchro summoning mechanics and LOLATK comes in, yes, lolatk matters. What can Red-Moon Baby kill that's worthwhile with 700ATK?What can't Goyo Guardian kill with 2800ATK?Come on, the bulked-up part is really important. You have to maindeck Ultimate Tyranno, with probably works against your deck unless it's a dinosaur deck. You just have a Red Dragon Archfiend sitting in your Extra Deck, waiting to be pulled when your opponent have a wall of defense monsters, and it doesn't interfere your draws if you don't need it. The mechanics, the effects, and the attack of certain synchros (Seriously, Goyo, Level 6 with 2800ATK?) combined produce a seems to be balanced mechanic yet is causing chaos. CrabHelmet
Changing them all to Vanillas would still be changing the mechanic. No, it wouldn't. It would be changing the pool of monsters that can make use of the mechanic. What if we changed all of their effects to silly things like that of Zone Eater? Would that be tampering with the mechanic? Does any change to any of the cards involved count as a fundamental alteration to the gameplay mechanic? Tronta
its not directly the mechanic im attacking. what im arguing against is that the mechanic makes it too easy to get out powerful cards. nobody gives a rats ass about sonic duck, but if it had an effect that said 'your opponent takes 7k when this is summoned' i think we might have some problems.you could either nerf the card, or make it less easy to get out. in this case, theyd likely just ban the thing. however, with synchros, taking away the effects wont do much. theres too many that are too powerful. what will help to balance them is making their summoning condition more difficult by removing or limiting cards like this. "chaos". On Goyo: Of course, the bulk'd-up part is important. The query, then, becomes: is Goyo banworthy because it has nearly all of Red-Moon's effect? Methinks not; the monster bein' Special Summoned in Defense Position, as it where, is an important factor, as well as the summoning condition surroundin' Goyo itself. It doesn't mingle with the main deck, true, but you still need two monsters to bring it out. On RDA: Yes, yes, you can just get your Extra Deck, sift for the Archfiend, and go a-whore upon your opponent's... Defense Position monsters. After that, you destroy your own monsters that didn't join in the orgy. I rescind mine earlier statement, then: even Asura Priest's better than RDA.its not directly the mechanic im attacking. what im arguing against is that the mechanic makes it too easy to get out powerful cards. Then ban the Synchros in question, if you could prove that the effects they possess are banworthy. And, so far, none of the Synchros we have (with the probable exception of Dark Dive Bomber) are banworthy.
