Naimo
OOC: so sorry for the delay but you know what? Stuff beating 74 paragraphs, I'll type what I've got and then we'll see if I have managed the goal or not. [spoiler=Vision]Jade felt the Necklace glow. Suddenly she was back ... back in Ancient Egypt. This time was walking alongside her Egyptian self. Something was different about her; her clothes were now lined with gold, she seemed to be wearing an even more amount of jewelry and on her fourth finger was a gold ring encrusted with three jewels; ruby, dark sapphire and emerald. Over her body she wore a long white travelling cloak. She had a veil over her nose and mouth. The two Jades approached a magnificant palace. It was, perhaps, one of the biggest buildings Jade had ever seen, and it had two floors. They approached the front door where a chord hung beside it. Egyptian Jade pulled the chord and a bell sounded somewhere inside. They didn't need to wait for long; the door opened to reveal Rafael, who immediately beamed. "Ah Jade, come in," he said brightly. Jade did not smile or show any type of emotion; she just walked in. A maid in a simple white dress hurried over and removed Jade's cloak for her. Jade did not say anything; it was like she was used to it. Rafael lead the way. The two Jades followed him through the magnificant palace; while Jade was fascinated, taking in as much of the palace as she could, her Egyptian counterpart was looking as emotionless as ever, perhaps far too used to being inside. They went through two rooms before they arrived at the dinning room. Jade was expecting a well-decorated room with a very long table. Instead the table could only seat six people; two either side and one at either end. "Please, take a seat," said Rafael as he sat down at the left end. Jade sat down at the right end. Now that they wouldn't move for a while, modern Jade noticed Rafael was wearing a hip-length royal purple cloak fastened with a Wadjet eye. She couldn't help but wonder where she had seen that type of cloak before. The maid suddenly appeared next to modern Jade, making her jump. The maid was carrying a tray upon which rested two gold goblets and a sleek gold jug. She placed a goblet in front of either person and the jug directly in the middle, before bowing and leaving quietly. Rafael stood up and poured some crimson liquid into each goblet, filling them up to the brim. Modern Jade assumed this was a funny-smelling wine; although she was certain it was wine (what else did they have to drink apart from water?) it didn't smell like wine. She watched Rafael take a sip out of his own goblet. "So Jade," he said as he lowered it away from his lips, his eyes on her. "To what do I owe this ... sudden pleasure?" He drank again, perhaps expecting her to answer him. She didn't, and he glanced into the liquid in his own goblet. Egyptian Jade hadn't moved at all since she had sat down. Her eyes were shut, her goblet remained untouched. She didn't even look at it, as if she was afraid it contained some form of sly poison. Rafael noticed this as he looked up. "Ah, I forgot. You don't drink scarab wine." Modern Jade could have been sick. Scarab wine? It sounded disgusting! Rafael seemed rather unfazed he was drinking dead scarabs; he drank more before attempting again to discover why Jade had come. "Has someone upset you, my beloved?" he asked as he put the goblet down. He stood up. "If you let me remove your veil, perhaps..." He stretched his arm out but Egyptian Jade held up her hand. Rafael understood and sat down again, his eyes still on her. Silence fell. If the clock had been invented modern Jade was sure she could have heard it tick. "It's about Liang," said Jade at last. Rafael said nothing; instead he finished the wine, poured some more and drank almost half of it in one go before he spoke again. "Ah yes, I thought you would touch on it," said Rafael delicately. He looked up at her. She did not return eye contact. Rafael decided to carry on. "It is a sad affair indeed and one must be careful when speaking about it-" "What have you been telling him?" fired Jade firmly and coolly. Rafael looked up at her with great surprise; clearly she was acting in a manner he had never seen her act before. He quickly got over his surprise and answered back. "You're saying I have been giving instructions?" asked Rafael incredulously. He gave a half-hearted laugh. "With your sharp eye-" He lingered on the Millennium Necklace securely fastened on Jade's neck. "-you wouldn't pick a husband who is deceitful-" "Which is exactly how to define you," snapped Jade, her pulse beginning to race. She glared furiously at Rafael, who was looking calm as if he had nothing to do with this matter when clearly he had. "Liang doesn't understand law and politics like you-" "Nor do you," muttered Rafael, unable to help himself. This only worsened the situation; Jade became angrier at his words. Rafael didn't care; in fact it seemed as if he was beginning to enjoy this, the opposite of Jade's feelings. "-but I, unlike Liang, have friends who are also advisors to the Pharaoh. And I happen to know that what Jacob did was so severe the Pharaoh had to judge this case himself. According to the law, such cases can not be disputed by anybody. The Pharaoh is entitled to discuss, yes, but not to be influenced by any party, whether it be Liberal Democrats, Conservative, Labour, or third party sources." "I'm impressed," said Rafael as he raised the goblet to his lips. "Do continue to enlighten me." Jade only became angrier at this casual reply. Suddenly she remembered anger would not solve anything. She took a while to calm down and compose herself while Rafael drank more wine. "You know very well if you tried to persuade the Pharaoh to be lenient towards Jacob you would loose your job or your head if luck turned her back on you," continued Jade, this time a lot calmer. "Which is why you decided to use Liang as a tool to safely achieve your aim. Liang is barely of age-" "Give him two more years and he will be," interrupted Rafael again. He sipped out of his goblet while Jade - now getting angry again - retorted him. "By which time he will not have survived if this keeps up," said Jade. It was clear she was struggling to keep herself calm. "If you can not even understand this simple concept of an innocent life being lost because of someone who is fully aware to the law then you should not be doing this job." "The Pharaoh trusts me," said Rafael simply. "I am his closest advisor. I assure you no one will expose me." It was clear he was under a sense of false security. Jade's blood was boiling even more as she stared at her future husband. "That is not the point!" cried Jade, half-furious, half-fustrated. "This is a scandal, it is corruption. Do you have any idea how serious an offence you have committed? Even the Pharaoh cannot protect you once this has been unearthed." "Oh please, it's not like I gave any money as a bribe to Liang," said Rafael, clearly impartial. "I simply asked him to do me a few favours and he very willingly agreed. You can't say I made a man do something out of his own free will. I did nothing to pressurise him into agreeing." "Oh really? Would you call threatening Liang with the knife of your Rod unless he agreed as a way of making a man work for you?" barked Jade. Rafael did not answer. "Obviously not! Corruption does not necessarily need to involve money. When this goes out everyone - from the public to the Pharaoh - will hate you, and everybody close to you, even me and all your servants, will also get the blame." "Now I understand," said Rafael as he slammed his goblet onto the table. Several drops of scarab wine flew out of the sloshing liquid. "This is all about you! You don't want me to ruin your reputation, your pride, and your face." "No! It isn't! I'm trying to save your back but your stubborn nature is clearly making you deaf! With the Necklace I saw a scandal in England in the year 2009. Memebers of Parliament - the equivalent to the Pharaoh's advisors - will have their claim expenses exposed and the public will hate them. They will claim for ridiculous items - from 22,000 sacks of horse manure to a Kit-Kat which barely costs a pound, from cleaning a moat to a duck island. Eventually many of the MPs will resign." "Your point being...?" asked Rafael, now looking at Jade with interest, obviously curious to know why she had told him this vision. "What are you trying to tell me?" "You will end up the same way once the Pharaoh finds out. You could loose your job, loose everything you onw, be killed - or worse, exiled if you escape the first three punishments. You know how severe the punishment is, and if you continue you will be dragging another life with you." Rafael was now looking very ugly. "Liang is a fool," he hissed in a snake-like manner. "He's young, he's unintelligent, he's weak willed, he's gullible-" At these words Jade did something very un-lady-like; she slammed her fist on the table and stood up, ignoring the fact she had knocked over her own goblet with her fist. "Which is something you have used to your advantage," roared Jade. She had completely forgotten about composure in the heat of the argument. "You are nothing more than a sly, despicable piece of cowardice with greed wider than your vile mouth can hold. And for this reason I refuse to be betrothed to such a man." She moved to pull off the ring but Rafael also stood up; he grabbed onto her hands, stopping her. "You know you don't want to do that," he said quickly, looking at Jade with a desperate look. Jade refused to look at him, her face fuming with anger. "You know you want to live in luxury, I know you want to come to court with me, I know you want to meet higher ranking members, I know you want to-" "-not take it off because it will put you to shame," finished Jade angrily. Rafael nodded, obviously thinking Jade had changed her mind; he was wrong. With a tug her hands escaped his grasp and Jade pulled the ring off. "I don't care." There was complete silence as Jade threw the ring onto the floor. It rolled across the floor, gently nudging against Rafael's ankle as it came to a halt and fell flat on its side. Jade began to leave the room, upset that Rafael still didn't understand her intentions. Suddenly Rafael drew the Millennium Rod out from under his cloak. He unsheathed the knife end and faced Jade's back, clearly with a strong desire to stab her. To his and modern Jade's amazement, Jade stopped and actually laughed coldly. Jade had a feeling she had forseen this event. "Are you really going to kill me Rafael?" she asked tauntingly. Rafael's face was twisted with fury, his grip like steel on the rod, his arm shaking, sweat running down his forehead like a waterfall. Jade had a feeling her Egyptian self was smiling. "I thought not. There's no need to see me out, I'm capable of finding the exit. Oh, and now that I'm gone I'm sure Michelle will be very happy she now has you all for herself." Rafael went incredibly pale at her words and he demanded shakily, "How did you know about her?" It seemed as if Jade knew he had been having an affair with another woman. Jade never answered, although everyone was sure the Millennium Necklace was responsible for it. Jade continued to leave the room, and a cold silence followed her. The scene changed to two days later. Jade was now walking on the streets, looking like the Jade modern Jade had first seen. Suddenly Rafael came stumbling out from a side alley from behind Jade, leading a group of five armed soldiers. Everybody but Jade were staring at Rafael; Jade appeared to be oblivious and continued walking. "There she is!" yelled Rafael, pointing at Jade. "Murderer!" The group ran to her. Jade stopped and turned round, obviously expecting them. She made no sign of defence. "Ah, Rafael," said Jade calmly as she held her arms out. "Why so much fuss? We were betrothed, if you knew me well you would have known I would go quietly." Indeed she did; she never flinched or refused as handcuffs were locked onto her. "You killed her," hissed Rafael. It was now modern Jade realised he had bloodshot eyes. "You were the only other person who knew about Michelle and had ill feelings towards her. I hope you're happy now she's dead." "Let me tell you this Rafael," said Jade nonchalently. "There are some words which must be said at appropriate times in appropriate places." With that she was taken away to where she would be held captive. The scene changed again. It was now three days later and Jade was in a cold, dirty cell. For the first time, she had no headdress or jewelry; now she sat in a cell, heavy handcuffs on her wrists, wearing a plain white dress. Her black hair fell to even longer than her waist; modern Jade pressumed she had been tieing her hair up before. Even the Millennium Necklace was gone. The prison door opened and the familiar figure of Poseidon entered. The moment he stepped in the door was shut and locked again. Jade made no motion; she just sat on the floor, staring at the hay beneath her feet. P walked over and kneeled opposite her. "Jade, if you don't do anything now you'll be dead tomorrow," said P, clear concern in his voice. Jade didn't answer. "How can you stay here so calm, doing nothing, assuming you won't be hurt when you know that murder carries a death penalty and that you'll die tomorrow?" Jade turned her head suddenly to look at P. "My demise is not yet to come," she told him. "Go and fetch Ryo for me. He is our last chance." P did not look too happy; perhaps it was to do with the way she had spoke to him, like he was her servant rather than her best friend. "I'm not your servant Jade," said P, his chest swelling slightly. "Just because you're going to die tomorrow it doesn't mean you can treat me as nothing more than dirt." "Just ... do it Poseidon," said Jade. "Trust me, I will walk out of here. Did you really believe I did not foresee this with the Necklace?" With nothing better left to say, Poseidon sighed and left to find Ryo. Barely an hour later Jade was taken out of her cell and into a closed off room where she sat opposite Ryo, the Millennium Scales placed on the table in between the two. "Jade," began Ryo. Modern Jade saw Rafael was present, sitting in a shadowy corner opposite Jade. Next to him, not looking pleased at all, was Poseidon. "Did you foresee the murder of Michelle using the power of the Millennium Necklace, the secret lover of your ex-boyfriend Rafael?" "I did," answered Jade calmly. Everyone watched as the feather side weighed down. Both Poseidon and Ryo looked relieved; modern Jade thought she saw a flash of annoyance cross Rafael's face briefly, and suspected he was hiding a secret. "Can you explain that vision to us?" continued Ryo as the scales balanced once again. Jade shut her eyes and began to speak, not out of being forced to do so, but in typical Jade fashion. If there was one thing modern Jade had learnt, her Egyptian counterpart had seen a lot through the Necklace. "I saw Michelle carrying out normal day-to-day duties," began Jade. "She was by a well, fetching water for her family when a dark shadow suddenly appeared. At first Michelle thought it was just a passer-by, until she saw a flash of silver. She looked up and realised it was a person. She couldn't see their face clearly; they had their sun against their back, hence throwing their features into darkness. I saw the blade go down and behead Michelle. That was all I saw." She opened her eyes again just as the feather lowered. One more question left, and then she's free, thought Ryo as the scales balanced out again. "Do you know who sent the assassin to kill Michelle?" Jade looked directly at him and there was a temporary pause, building the tension. "No." Right before their eyes, the feather side lowered, proving Jade was free to go. Within ten minutes Jade had changed back to her usual clothes and was given a proper apology before being let out, Poseidon and Ryo walking side by side with her. Suddenly Jade felt herself lurch forwards into time. She landed beside a duel, and immediately recognised the two duellists; once again it was Rafael and Poseidon duelling. Rafael had aged; he looked as if he was in his early fifties. Despite this he was still duelling ferociously like he was still young. Poseidon looked only just a bit older, around eighteen. Jade watched as he drew but suddenly the vision was faltering as she pulled out of her vision and back into Chancellor Sheppard's office.   OOC: I managed 56 ... Naimo
Jade nodded and left the office, still pondering. So her Egyptian self had once been engaged to Rafael, who had used Liang as a tool in a desperate bid to save Jacob which - as Jade knew - would later be all for nothing. And so it turned out Jade had once been framed for murder, but thanks to Ryo she was free ... somehow Jade had a feeling Rafael had tried to get his own back on Jade but had not realised about the Scales. Ezio
"Thanks," said Poseidon taking the note. He opened it, and just as he did his face changed, completely. As if something new had been born within him, he shook his head up and looked up to Liang "so this duel" he said. He then quickly dashed towards Liang and whacked his Duel Disk on his head, Liang stumbled and almost fell, yet remanded upright. Stronger than he looked. Yet Poseidon had him, he threw a heavy punch directly into Liang's face which sent him backwards to the floor. Liang was out, and he wasn't getting up any time soon...
