Morgan LeFlay
I think Normal Monsters as part of a set, or as a joke card, are fine. Yes, sets do need normal monsters sometimes. A couple examples are my Super Mario set, which has Mario and Luigi as normals and they change forms into Fire Mode, Super Mode, etc. which have effects. Also, in big community sets like the CCG which are meant to replace the TCG, obviously some Normal Monsters are needed too. In both scenarios above, at least 1 person commented "Why are there normals?" It's true that you shouldn't make a set using primarily normals, or create a post JUST for normals, but including them as part of something isn't really a problem. Mr. Judgment Dragon
... In conclusion' date=' normal monsters suck. [/topic'] I hope you are not talking about 1900+ ATK vanillas. They still generally suck. And yeah, Pikaperson did kind of sum up the topic because Vanillas in general have mostly terrible support and are mostly beatsticks and nothing more. Sleepy
It is ammusing to see how vanillas only exist because that's how the game started, without effects, everything later on has been improvements. Now the only new vanillas are usually theme support or have something special...(not much) It is interesting that they only serve as beatsticks(and not even great beatsticks), but we have 4 of the weakest vanillas in the limited list :)
tonisanoob
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DEAR GOD GET BETTER! to answear a few things1. yes i do remember when normal monsters where good 8 YEARS AGO!2. the best normal monsters are, tri horned dragon, cosmo queen and glad beast andal (or any darl lv4 1900) and mecanicalchaiser3. i cant think of any competitive deck where dark magician would be useful, or even blue eyes white dragon, they may have support but they all suck! (bewd beign the less of 2 evils)4. out of all the vanillas rebd is probs one of the very worst5. if you won a tournoment that had rebd in your deck then your tournoment is dooing it wrong!6. normal monsters are pretty unimaginative! you have 4 game related aspects in making it, this beign a yugioh site that allows you to create card, one would think that makign cards with interessting effects would be a main priority7. @brentxbanshee you say its not unimaginitive to make normal monsters but in actual fact yes it is

~ P O L A R I S ~
I bet you have never herd of REW or REDMD have you? If you're trying to build a competitive Hopeless Dragon Deck, NEVER RUN REBD. REW is FOR REDMD. REDMD has VASTLY better targets, like Dark Horus and Van'Dalgyon, which are also Trade-Inable, have effects, and have higher ATK. So yeah.

Kendo Fish
I have nothing against vanillas. Aren't some vanillas beatsticks or guys with high DEF? Sure, they can be defeated by effects, but if you're running a well-made deck you can counter that with a spell/trap, can't you? An isn't it okay if a person just makes ONE OR TWO vanillas? When I really only made one vanilla in my written card topic (aside from the no-effect tuner), a guy immediately said that Vanillas=Fail. I STILL don't completely understand that. Aren't some vanillas GOOD? Like, say, Summoned Skull and La Jinn, who HAD their time for a while? Or the current Gene-Warped Warwolf, the first 2000 ATK 4-star with no real drawbacks? Darkerai
What most people said about 1 or 2 normals in a set is absolutly true, most sets will include a normal or 2 ever now and again. But beyond that there is no reason for normals except if you give it like 2200+ atk(probably get flammed by making it to strong but even then it wouldn't be worth it) or amazing support...Oh and as far as REBD it is a level 7 monster with 2400 atk...it's support realy does not help at all and is outclassed by Dark Magician(LOL Epidemic Virus)
