WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A RENDER! All I hear is "I want this render" "You should try this render" So please somebody clear that up for me. 1+rep for the best answer.

A render is a cut-out of a picture.

For example: Say you want a Render to make a Yugioh Booster in Photoshop. You can't use the original image with a background, so you need to Render it, or cut it out.

Then you can put your own background in it, ETC.

Renders are images that DO NOT have background, just like Yoshi said.

Look at a booster pack and note that the image isn't like its card version, they need to take the background out. They do this for tins/packs

 

Normally, renders are in .png format, because they are transparent

You can add backgrounds later if you wish with renders.
